Our first snow storm this season

Yesterday at 2pm the public school released the students due to the impending storm. My daughter walked in the door and not 10 minutes later it started snowing. By 9 pm they called a 2 hour delay. It snowed all night and the furnace ran nearly constantly. At 6:30 this morning they cancelled the public school. My son still had public school but his one teacher couldn’t teach because of the storm so since I’m not fond of her faced paced classes I hope for lots more storms this season . The photo shows we got just under 9 inches of snow. It was funny seeing my little dog hopping around in the snow like a rabbit. She enjoyed the snow so much that when I let her off her leash to run around a bit she wouldn’t come back in the house for about a half hour. My son spent a long time outdoors shoveling a path for his sister to get to school and then he realized it’s a weekend tomorrow. I thought it was so sweet of him. That snow was really wet and heavy! My dad used his tractor with a plow on it to clear most of my driveway. I had to shovel out around my van and get all the snow off my van. I shoveled a path to the mailbox and shoveled out one end of the driveway. I had to break it up throughout the day as it was to exhausting to do all at once. I found out that the boots I bought a few months ago aren’t waterproof at all [em]sad[/em My daughter went to her friends house from 2:30-9:30. Her friends father picked my daughter up and dropped her back off after. They live just down the street but it was very thoughtful since he has a truck and I just have my van with all season tires. I finished a book I was reading called “A Bend in the Road” by Nicholas Sparks. Worst part of the day was my son being obnoxious then being sent to his room until he stopped yelling and was calm and ready to finish his schoolwork. The best part of the day was qualifying for a survey on mypoints and getting points for that. But that lead to two other surveys that I will receive $10 & $20 from the survey company. The higher paying one was a survey I had to record videos of my answering their questions.

You just made me very cold with talk of snow. I am cold anyway. Here in Florida our temps have gone into the 50s and these houses are not heat containing. I am going to get warm PJs on and hope tomorrow it gets warmer. Hope you have a good night. Might I ask where you are located that you got snow?

@RasmaSandra I thought you mentioned it being 80° there a few days ago. Have the temperatures dropped that fast? I am heading to bed but wanted to post this before I went to sleep. I live in Pennsylvania up in the Northeast.

@shaggin yes, they have zipped down and last night we hit 45. At least over the weekend, it will be in the 70s. After my days in Latvia, I was hoping to keep warming my bones. Who knew? Now when the tropical heat returns I won't complain.

@RasmaSandra oh my gosh wow that is a huge drop in temperatures. I am sure your body is feeling almost shock at the cold after living someone warmer!

@Tina30219 that stinks you got the snow and in town they didn't. Unless you like snow then it would be good for you. I personally hate snow! Your flying through those books. I started another and it's a small loveswept book so it won't take me long to finish like the rest of the books I've read this year. I took your advice after the nightmares and chose a nice book instead of horror

@Tina30219 I can't wait to get out my Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving and see what Christmas books I have in there. I had a huge stack one yesterday but each year I knock off a few more of them and so there might not be many left. I have read many of Debbie Macombers Christmas books. I'm surprised to hear it was short. None of the ones I have read by her were short but some do have more then one story in one so maybe she combines the books sometimes into one larger one to sell better.

@shaggin I am like you I don’t like snow it is pretty but nasty. Yeah they were short ones the Alaska. Hiday one I just finished by Debbie Macomber it was really good it is her new holiday one. Glad you took my advice and read a better book. I added a couple more tonight to my kindle holiday themed ones.

9 inches of snow! I think last year, after two snowstorms back to back, we got 4 or 5 inches. I don't think we are to expect much this year. I LOVE the snow though. The thrift store I go to has a lot of Nicholas Sparks books but I haven't purchased any yet. I might purchase one or two at another store, they are set to have a good sale near or after Thanskgiving, I can't remember which day. I need to get to working on Surveys because of that actually, so I can afford to splurge a little. It was sweet of your son to shovel the walk for his sister. He homeschools right?

@ScribbledadNauseum I have read a few of his books and watched the movies. I have a few left on my bookshelves by him to read. This one I just finished I am sending to my nieces grandmother as we give each other the books we finish. I hope you are able to find some great books on sale when you go to that Thanksgiving sale. I much prefer my time at mylot and have spend my free time here today but I earn faster from the surveys so I have been trying to do them more the past few months to have a little extra for birthday gifts and Christmas. Yep my son does cyber school at home. He has History, Grammer and spelling that we didn't finished yesterday so we are going to work on that soon.

@ScribbledAdNauseum wow yeah if a teacher took a ruler to my child I would freak out! Did you get to go to the sale then today or did you wind up missing it since you thought it was a different day?

@shaggin Well, the sale was today! I thought it was next week! It said "Thanskgiving Sale". Maybe they close for the week of thanksgiving since they are a mom and pop type operation. I need to work more on my surveys and try to write a few articles as well. I did okay today, but could do better. I know of a lady who homeschools here children. She tried public school but I believe the teacher ended up taking a ruler to her child, or something else that she was not keen on and because of his difficulties, she felt it was better to homeschool.

We expect snow for the next week, but the cold has come. I am glad that your father plowed the snow from the driveway, I usually shovel it, it's a pain.

@LadyDuck unfortunately my driveway is quite long so shoveling it all is a nightmare. I am thankful I don't have to leave the house early as I'd have to get up hours earlier to shovel my way out.

@shaggin We share the private road leading to our home with our neighbor, he is younger and he has a teenager boy, they help a lot to shovel.

@Courtlynn I wish you had gotten the snow instead of me and yes very nice of both of them. It would have taken me an entire day of more to shovel my whole driveway out myself.

@shaggin me too!!! LOL. I love shoveling. though we don't have to do it, unless we have to go out and they haven't been by yet, as the office plows and does the sidewalks.

@snowy22315 one time many years ago I got $10 for doing a survey about jeans. Never had a high paying one again until now so I am so excited. I've never heard of Prolific Academic.

@sofssu Well managed to stay busy in our own way. The survey earnings are adding up for a nice little amount to spend on Christmas presents.

I am curious about the videos answering questions. Do you know if someone else is making notes on your facial expressions? That seems to be a new thing with surveys.

@shaggin It's pretty fascinating what they can learn from all this. Also interesting if their calculations are correct or not.

School was out here yesterday due to the snow but we only got about 5 inches but that enough for the country kids not to to school, so I sat around watching kids playing and having a blast in the snow, they are calling for snow tomorrow as well.

@hillhjill my son and dog both enjoyed this snow storm and my daughter enjoyed no school and getting to stay home in her pajamas longer 5 inches of snow in a day is still a lot so I can understand why your school is closed. Here I live near the school so my daughter would never miss a day but the kids 5+ Mike's out in the more country area get more snow as they are in higher elevations and the roads are a lot worse there. So due to those areas our school closed often in bad weather. My son does cyber school at home so he never misses a day of school.

@shaggin That's the same here, if you live in the country you get more snow day then when you live in town.

it looks like it's very thick snow ... and it looks like your weather is currently bad ... luckily we didn't experience winter here, because I couldn't stand the very cold weather

@leny34 it sure was thick and heavy. My hip and back are not feeling the greatest this morning. Today it will be about 40°F so that is warmer then it has been. Much of the snow will melt but if it drops colder again suddenly after then my driveway will be a sheet of ice.. which is usually what happens I wish I lived somewhere warmer the older I get the more I hate the cold.
