My First Try At Oil Painting....

Went horribly wrong! Let me just say, don't buy the cheap stuff! I know some of it is I am not that good at painting, but some of it is the cheap materials. The brushes were just a mess and wouldn't do what I wanted. One thing that was my fault was I didn't get a oil paint brush cleaner, so I couldn't clean my brush in between colors. I will try again once I get the cleaner...Even though I still will have the materials. I want to see if that at least makes a difference. What do you think of it? Should I just stick to digital art, or should I keep trying?

in my opinion you should continue to try and try,   I'm sure if you keep trying to paint you will definitely be very proficient

@MommyOfEli2013 I think it's practice and doing it over and over, it would take time and practice before the hand follows the brain, good luck to you and hope to see more of your art work.

You will also need a thinner to keep the paint thinner, And its helps if the canvas us wet with white before you begin. Tony use to paint with oils.

Yes, I definitely know about the paint thinner after this first try. And I want to use the wet on wet technique, just didn't have what I needed to do so. That's great that he used to paint with them, I appreciate the tips.

I would keep trying, it's not bad but I'm not an artist so I don't see it how artist would see it, keep up the good work tho.

Thank you, and I will once I get some paint thinner, and something to make the canvas wet. May need to invest in better brushes/paints.

@CarolDM Yes, that is a fair point. But I know this could be a lot better if I had the right tools.

Well thank you very much, it just wasn't as relaxing as I hoped because the tools I have are not good quality. I will keep practicing once I get some paint thinner.
