Do you like Cacti? I wasn't a big fan of cacti though I was always fond of succulents. They hurt me and pricked me at times and I kept my distance with them. Then the magic happened.. I fell head over heels in love with them. I had this one for over a year, it wasn't really neglected but not cherished..It was a gift from a friend.. and I kept it because of her. I started giving it some extra care, because I felt guilty and lo and behold it bloomed and bloomed profusely. I fell head over heels in love with these magical plants.. Do you like cacti ? Do you have them?

Cactuses are evil and selfish. They are possessive of anything beautiful among them. They flaunt their beauty and expect nobody to touch them. Snobbish...they don't show their colors that often either.

@vandana7 actually its the other way.. they don't t draw to much attention to themselves.. blend into the background.. ask for almost nothing and still give those lovely beauties.. now this is fun...

I used to decorate my terrace with cacti. That, until Luna arrived and decided that they were toys. Now my poor cacti are put away and I almost never look at them.

@sofssu Luna is my German shepherd giant puppy. When she arrive, I placed them higher. As she grew, I placed them higher still. She learned to jump and climb. Now the poor cacti left are hidden at a back patio until Luna grows and learns.

I have always loved cactus even though they can be so rough on you. I think I inherited it from my grandmother. She had a beautiful cactus garden.

Wow this sure is a pretty cactus. Only one that I have blooms. It is a zygot cactus and it bloomed on the side facing the window this past week. Cactus are about the only plant I've been able to keep alive and even then I have killed a few

@shaggin I have holiday cacti that bloom regularly at Christmas and Easter. This year there seems to be no signs of any buds on them.. wonder why.. maybe because temperatures haven't changed much here..

This bloom is super cute! I wasn't fond of cacti or succulents before . . . but in recent years I have learned to appreciate them (especially in our drought!). We do have a few now - both inside and outside.

@sofssu I think we have a smaller version of your cacti here (my little son picked it out). I wonder if it's the same kind and maybe it will flower like yours sometime? That'd be a fun future surprise for us!

@SIMPLYD Its called Gymnocalycium baldianum or the spider-cactus or dwarf chin cactus, is a species of flowering plant in the cactus family Cactaceae, native to the Catamarca Province in Argentina. No, i don't think I have posted this one. It is pretty new cactus in my collection .. maybe for the last three years or so.. It has bloomed for only two years now.
