The start of America's Grateful Week

I'll be busy on this coming Thursday. Busy rolling pie dough and carefully taking out china from the cabinet that only comes out three to four times a year. I might as well start up early being grateful. This afternoon I headed into the state of "thank you very much!" when the electricity came back on. We were going about our business, having a sleepy Sunday and wow! The smoke alarm started beep, beep beeping. Leah dog is afraid of that high pitched racket with all her big dog bones. She shivers, she shakes, she does her best to climb up onto my lap and oh GAWD!! Do not knock my recliner and me backwards against the wall. I do not like the Emergency Room. Our temperatures did go above freezing this afternoon. About ten degrees above. Not bad but not fun to sit in a cooling house at that coolness, wondering when we would get power. Power to heat us and power to run the pump so that water would again come from the faucets and water to flush toilets. Huge thank yous! to the folks who headed out on a cool Sunday and made the electric transformers deliver power again. That took two hours but the job was done. Thank you very much. I have soup starting to boil into a tasty supper cause of you.

I agree. Power is a good reason to be thankful. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

While a power cut here is inconvenient we don't have the extremes of temperature that you do so it doesn't really affect us as much as it could.

@JudyEv Do you use a well for water? I'm guessing you will say yes.

It is good to be thankful when you can. I am glad you have power again and can be warm and clean.

Glad that it is back on now. This time of year is the worst to lose power.

@wolfgirl569 Sunshine somehow helps the spirit even if it is chilly. Fog and overcast always leaves me cold even if it as warm as when its sunny.

@wolfgirl569 I agree and yet I was glad the power went off when it was day time.

I have a gas grill and a fireplace, but last winter I had 2 days of freezing temps and no power. I did not get the gas heater I wanted.

I'm sorry that happened to you. We have been blessed with mild temps so far. Often by October 31st our day time temps are below freezing more often than not.

Oh no! No power in chilly weather. That's when you wish you had a fireplace! Three cheers for that power company And enjoy that holiday baking

Having no electricity this time of year is terrible! It is warmer here then it is there where you are but probably only by 10 or 20 degrees at the most. I am glad you didn't have to go any longer without electricity. Having electric is definitely something to be grateful for! I was surprised this year to see no one doing the thankful posts every day of November. I know the last bunch of years a lot of people did it on Facebook and I know a few did it here including @Courtlynn

That was a pretty chilly interlude. Does it happen often?

No, thank God. I think the power went off in town where there are traffic lights, too.

That's pretty cold for no heat. I have a friend that needs to change the battery in her smoke alarm and every time it chirps, her dog shakes bad and hides or jumps in her lap.
