I will keep stitching them and stitching them

Most socks, when they start getting holes in them, I will use as dust clothes and use them for awhile til it is time to throw them away. It is usually the thin type socks that I will do that to. But, there is one pair of my thick socks, that I really like. They are very comfortable. In the past year or so that I have had them, today was the second time I stitched up a few holes that were starting. They are one of my favorite pair of socks. I will wear them and repair them until they get so threadbare that I will be forced to use them as a dust rag and then throw them away. What do you do with holy socks?

I also have a favorite pair of socks that I have stitched up several times. They were a gift from my girlfriend when we first started dating, and they are the softest, bestest pair of socks I own. For all my other socks, I will wear them until the holes get so big that my toes start poking through. At that point, I put them in my camping gear bag, to use as kindling/starter for campfires.

That is a good idea. Hubby goes through white socks by the bushel, making holes in the toes.

I never thought about using them for kindling for campfires. Good idea.

@GardenGerty I hate that I wear out socks so quickly, especially since they just get holes down in the toe area, but the rest of the sock is just fine. I keep trying different brands of socks to see if I can find a better quality one where the toe area doesn't wear out so fast.

I find myself throwing them away but when it comes to T-shirts, I use them as dust clothes until they are no longer usable

Yes, I will use old T-shirts too for dust rags.

If I really like them I try to mend them. Mostly I use them as rags. I have more trouble with losing a mate.

When I was ten and staying with my grandparents I ran out of maxi pads. I had my own money, but my grandmother refused to take me about a mile away to buy more. She gave me cut up socks! I was horrified. This is too much information, so let me put it this way: if I were to use socks I would have needed about three at one time. That is what she did with her socks. That is not what I would ever do with mine.

Wow that is interesting. I never thought of using old socks for that purpose.

Why don't you get more of those socks that you love so much?

I mend the socks that I like more and, like you, I use the others as dust clothes when they start getting holes.

My mother always darned socks but once they get holes in I must admit they go in the bin or are used as dusters.
