Request Granted By A Neighbor

The neighbors , fronting our house, is fond of videoke singing with her relatives in their garage, when they have an occasion. They had it again last Sunday for the nth time. It started in the morning about 9:00 a.m. and when it is still going on loud , in the evening at 7:00, my brother-in-law requested me to text the owner, a widow, who I am a friend with , that it be stopped at 8:00 already. He told me, that if they won’t stop by 8:00 in the evening he will call the police. Thus, I texted her to request that , since my brother-in-law said they are already a nuisance to the neighbors who also wants to rest already for the day. Well, she is a kind woman, because she said “ in a little while , after some lined up songs will already be done.” And so at 8:00 , the videoke singing was done. Do you also experience having a neighbor who is very fond of videoke singing even already as late as 10:00 in the evening? Will you just let them do it even in the late evening or request for them to stop when it’s already late in the evening? Actually, you can be complained as a nuisance here when you do this until late in the evening. Note: Picture is from google

i thought it was your family and i was searching for your face and noticed there was even a foreigner singing. hahaha! if it started at 9am then it's fair to ask them to stop by 8pm. yes, some neighbors do that here, too, until midnight, even 1-2am, but it's been a while that i can't remember the last time. we just bear with it since it doesn't happen regularly.

No, we have no neighbors who are fond of videoke singing and noises on Sundays are not tolerated here, no matter which hour of the day. We can call the police if we hear annoying noises (no matter which ones) from 10 pm to 7 am. On Sundays all the day and night.

That is so nice there in your place. Here, some neighbors indeed, specially too in my hometown who would go on singing even late at night already, Though, we can also complain to the police about it.

@SIMPLYD I do not even need to call the police, my closest neighbor is the chef of the local police, he immediately takes care of the matter.

@LadyDuck That's very nice. And I am sure the neighbors know that it's not aloud to be a nuisance in the neighborhood.

@SIMPLYD cruelty to animals is on the increase. May be the fast food that human beings eat makes them cruel

@allknowing Yes, it seems so people are easily angered. Road rage are also being committed. It can really be something with the foods they eat indeed specially those fast foods.

Yes, there are many kind of nuisances by the neighbor. But this one is so common here in the Philippines. With regards to the dog being a nuisance, there was a news the other day, where the neighbor killed the dog because it quarreled with his dog. Imagine that. So, dog owners really keep their dogs inside their gated premise as much as possible.

This can be very annoying. I think people should be considerate of their neighbours and not carry on their singing and loud music too late into the evening.

So you spied on your neighborw and took this picture without their permission to be posted here? LOL! I don't think they're singing in their garage - they seem to be in their living room.

Sometimes our front neighbor sing with his barkadas late into the night when there are occasions like the coming fiesta or birthdays. We don't mind though but when it's about 11PM, they stop by themselves. They also close the windows so the sound will not be so audible to us neighbors. They usually sing old songs and sometimes we just enjoy listening. Our front neighbor used to be in a band and they were in Vietnam before to entertain our Philcag troops there. It's very pleasant to hear their good blending. His only daughter (also a dentist) sings well too and is a member of one of the choirs in our church. In fact, my wife is planning to request her to give a number in the usual program before the Christmas eve mass. Her uncle (the dentis's brother) was also a member of the band that went to Vietnam and he was the original owner of the house but sold it to his brother (the dentist) when the whole family migrated to the U.S.

Well, it is good if everyone can sing nicely. But the singers in that neighbor's occasion are mostly out of tune. It is okay though if they sing not so loud that everyone in the neighborhood can hear them. So, you don't mind if they are still singing by 11 pm?

Oh we did experience that when we were still living in a 2 door apartment and the owners of the apartment lives at the back of our apartment. Since we were facing the street we have space than those living at the back of us. When one of them got their birthday they decided to setup something like a mini street party and they camped in front of our gates. Since it was a Sunday we didn't bother them expecting that they would be done by 10pm but it passed that time and it was time for us to sleep and they were still outside playing Karaoke was not really nice anymore and most of them were drunk already. My wife could not wait anymore and called the barangay to complain already. Several times did the Barangay Tanods came and they promised to packed up but they ended up packing at 2am. That was the worst nuisance I have experience from inconsiderate neighbours.

None of our neighbors are into that, nor are they noisy. There are rules against loud noise disturbances and even the workman have special hours for work and silence. That would drive me crazy! Glad they stopped.

oh yes, we had that problem a few months back. this new neighbor was unaware of the barangay ordinance regarding limitations of videoke use in the neighborhood. she was warned several times but never stopped until finally a barangay tanod came over and ordered her household to stop the videoke right away. the neighbors were already out in the street very late at night and complaining, and you know what? i was one of them. :D

@almostoveryou Actually when I texted her, I told her that my brother-in-law requested them to stop, lest he will call the police if they don't at 8;00 p.m. since it was already the whole day they were singing out loud. She answered "why does he has to do that, when a request can be done only." I think, she was afraid for that to happen, since she herself is a government employee.

Yes, that is true. We can already complain them to the police. Or we can make a formal complaint to our Barangay captain. Here, we cannot just reprimand them. They might retaliate and will already be drank, so you don't know how they will take it. They might suddenly be enraged and strike you with a knife or a butcher's knife.

Good for you there, that your neighbors are considerate. Actually, some neighbors here also have some videoke singing. However, when it is night time already, they end it . This one is a new neighbor actually. Only about more than a year. They had videoke singing the other time and its until more than 10 in the evening. So, this incident will serve as a lesson to them now. They don't ever invite the neighbors. They are relatives of the owner of the house - a widow.
