The place of the Sjenica in Serbia is often cut off from the world, because the winter there is very cold and snow attacks up to 2m. Since it is the place where the oldest population is most likely, emergency services are very difficult for them, so there are mountain rescue services that are busy all day long. Since the vehicle can not reach all houses, people carry patients on their carriers and several hundred meters. Life here is very hard.

You are right, life is hard where snow is so high that you cannot get help.

@Nevena83 It's a danger for those who live there, if there is a medical problem it's hard to reach them.

@LadyDuck Yes, last year they barely broke through the snow to take the pregnant woman to the hospital. And she was born on the way to the hospital. Both the baby and they are fine.

That would be a rough place to live. My parents had about six feet of snow..over a a two week period last winter. It was record breaking! They were stranded in the house alot.

I'm so happy that I don't every have to worry about that much snow where I live. It rarely ever snows, or even gets very cold here. But then again, we do get strong hurricanes all the time, and that might be even worse than snow.

@Nevena83 The hurricanes that have hit us in the past five years or so have been deadly, and have cause catastrophic damage worse than any war could. The storms are getting worse due to climate change. Our roads are okay, sometimes the highways can be scary to drive on, especially during holidays when there is heavy traffic as people travel to visit family and loved ones.

@Nevena83 We recently had a hurricane hit us in October, that completely destroyed the cities and towns along the coast where the hurricane came ashore. I work on a search and rescue team, so we were the first ones to go in to search for survivors. The attached photo is an example of the damage we had to search through to look for survivors. Tens of thousands of houses and buildings were destroyed as a result of the storm. In the photo, I'm the guy in the middle in the white shirt bending over.

@DianneN Yes, it's very hard to live there. Even ambulances can not reach them. Last year, the pregnant woman was evacuated with a helicopter because emergency could not come because of the snow.

Yes, these villages often do not have electricity, water, roads, and winter temperatures are very low up to -30 degrees.

Obviously, such a life is hard but not unhealthy. If it were, the people living there wouldn't become so old.

Yes, life is healthier in nature, but they have no roads and when snow falls, it is impossible to reach them.
