I gave up makin snow ..... er, tumble weed men LOL

@rebelann I was thinking maybe people can hang them like Christmas ornaments in a huge tree too. . . but that idea's probably been done before. We don't get a whole lot of tumbleweeds here, but oddly I think we've only seen ONE in the streets this whole season. Maybe it's been so dry that however tumbleweeds grow, they didn't have a chance to even grow this year! Yah, those sticker things hurt!!

It's probably because of all the fires CA has been suffering @much2say I sure do hope the last one has finally gone out but now I've heard there's a lot of rain and naturally it'll cause mud slides ...... I think Mother Nature is trying to tell us something.

Yeah, it seemed that way back in the 1970s but nowadays not many people make them anymore ..... hmmmm, tumbleball fight??? I think that would really hurt cuz of all them stickers those things have.

I agree but the problem with the ones in the photo is that they attract mites and spiders .... insects are always active in this region because it is dry and warm even in winter ..... well, not warm to me but much warmer than places that get snow.

Snakes don't bother me as long as they aren't very big @responsiveme most animals including smaller snakes avoid humans, as for the larger variety like the boas that could swallow me uhhhh, no I wouldn't think they'd be interested, they want the larger game like does or bucks or .............

I can remember making snow angels when I was 8 and dad was stationed in Germany but after that he was stationed here and I've only seen snow every few years but never enough to make snowmen.

Yeah, I suppose compared to lush Germany with all that snow these two would be funny.

@rebelann We don't have so much snow anymore as we used to have due to climate change. Last winter there was only snow high up on the mountains but not in the cities.

Ahh yes, you do have beautiful snowscapes. I remember the shots you posted of Zulu playing with her buddy in the snow. By the way, how are your grand dogs doing?

Poor ole Woods @PainsOnSlate actually I'm sorry for his human, it's not easy watching a beloved pet begin to hurt.

@rebelann My grands are great except the oldest is hurting but is cared for carefully and loved...Zuzu is a darling...

I live in a desert region and usually it is really warm or very hot from May through October @JudyEv then in November it starts to cool down but we do get really freezing cold days here and there which is awful then from January to March it get downright cold and sometimes it even goes below freezing at night, luckily that kind of cold only lasts a few weeks if that. There usually isn't very much humidity here, this year was a fluke because it actually was humid in our summer months.

You guessed it, I think we both have the same type of winters, no snow even when it's cold .... well, cold to me that is

@rebelann We were told at school that our climate is Mediterranean and also like that of California - but probably only parts of California.

@rebelann Yeah, I guess those wee pests can be icky. I have a picture of me hugging one of the last snowmen I helped make. This was a Snow Man not tumble weed. If I ever do build a tumble weed man, I don't think anyone will every capture a pic of me hugging him for fear of wee pests.

Some of the desert rats I know have lacquered their creations to prevent the wee spidies and mites from infesting them. I made one decades ago but was too stupid at the time to know about the wee pests, that was the last one I made.

A couple of people years ago lacquered the ones they made to try to prevent those pests, I didn't know them so I'm not sure if that worked @betlynfrnds

It's a trade off, you get the snow and icy conditions while here it's mostly warm, dry and windy conditions ..... I think I prefer the latter although it has it's own problems.

I think they are too. As for those spiders etc I hate them. One of the species we have here is the hobo spider, I hate when they bite me.

@rebelann I've never heard of that species of spiders. I hate all spiders and stamp them into non-existence when I see them.

@rebelann I don't hate them, they have no place in my home. If I see them outside, I leave them alone. That's their home. I'm the invader of their space, so yeah, I don't like getting stung by mosquitoes, attacked by flies, or see ants seemingly marching towards me. I avoid them outside. I attack them inside. Inside is my space, not theirs.

Out here it's what everyone does cuz there's rarely any snow and if it does snow it isn't enough for a snowman.

I like snow too as long as do not need to go out in it. It can be very pretty if seen from a window indoors where it is warm.
