For me... I found a gem on eBay.

Everyone has said material things are not that important... And for the most part...they aren't. But when everything is gone, and you have no memories left of your past, but what is in your head...then yeah... They can sometimes add importance to your life. The other night I was just thumbing through eBay, to see if there was anything I noticed from my past. I found an original painting of my dad's. They were listing it for $295. I wish I had the money, I would have bought it in a heartbeat! I also found the Salad Master electric skillet, and the food processor. Both of these items were my all time favorite things to use in the kitchen. That food processor sliced through cabbage, like it was butter. Would love to have both of those back one day. Then I came across the very first cookbook I ever purchased. I had gotten it at a Christian bookstore, called Our Fathers Book Store, in Jacksonville Beach, FL. The cookbook was called Delectable Collectibles. It was published in 1971, by Campus Crusade For Christ; where all the staff members tested these recipes, before adding them into the cookbook. I used this cookbook for years, before I started collecting others. Now I love to collect cookbooks. Still looking for my Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa)...My Bobby Flay Mesa Cook book...The original Diners Drive-in & Dives...and a host of others. I did find the Texas Morning Glory cookbook on eBay that I once had too. It has all kind of delicious breakfast recipes. I just love to eat breakfast food, even for dinner! LOL I just have to wait to get some more eBay sales to be able to afford it. Hopefully there will be some left. The sales have slowed down to a halt again. :( You can never go wrong giving me a cookbook. So if you ever want to get rid of any, contact me first. You might have something I once had. Anyway... The cookbook came in the mail today. There is some slight wear on the outside of the cookbook, and a couple of small stains on one page towards the end. Other than that... It is in incredible shape for a 47 year old cookbook! I can't believe it is in in my hands. And the most incredible thing is... The gentleman that sold me this cookbook, was born in St. Augustine, FL (30 minutes away)...and was raised in Jacksonville. Talk about a small world. Who would have thought that I would lose something in Houston, TX...and get it returned to me in the very city where I bought it...47 years later? It is the greatest feeling in the world to get a little piece of my life back!

It is the memories of people we love that is very important, the things we did and the things we shared.

I have not been that fortunate. Especially lately. Most holidays, birthdays...etc...are spent alone. They are like another day to me.

@teresatrotter When you feel alone, you can always come here and have a little discussion with anyone that is online and there always are some that are online. What is one of your favorite recipes in these cookbooks that you enjoy cooking?

I am seriously thinking about thinning mine out. I will take a pic and send you a message. If you want any, I can send them to you. Wait, can we send a pic in message?? I think we can.

Not sure. But you could send me private email, and then do it that way. I don't spam anyone. I barely use it to talk to anyone. LOL
