China will grow larger.

The president of China is currently visiting the Philippines. Two cities suspended work and school just to accommodate him and of course for traffic to be smoother for our guest. The common joke is he is the real president and we are now a province of the mainland. They own most of the islands in the Spratly's and that we have to inform them every time we pass their 'territory'. Our fishermen can't even fish in waters that are originally part of our economic zones. They own many businesses in the country, granted huge loans to the government, and have billion dollar infrastructure projects. China will grow larger. I am quite worried that we will lose our sovereignty. We need to be cautious. Don't you agree?

Their first target is surely Taiwan?

Hmmm... I think the time for caution in dealing with China may have already passed, BB. *shake my head* Your President Duterte failed to object to China basically claiming Mischief Reef (Sandy Cay) as traditionally their territory, so your country "gave away" their rights to the island(s). At least, I think that is basically what it all boils down to, isn't it? (I could have misunderstood something, though. I am not that well versed in the tensions between China and the Philippines.)

Indeed. We can't even fish in areas within our economic zones without permission from China.

@Beatburn Yeah, I read that. I'm wondering if there is anything your country/President could do to reclaim that area from China?

yes that is a dilemma of the Pinoys, those who did not vote for the president. so sad it seems we are already a province of the ROC.

It is sad. A part of me wishes it weren't true.

I don't think so.What China wants is to be the center again, like what it has been for over 2000 years ,and its first target is making the country united again, I mean to recover Tanwan. 200 years ago, when Philippines suggested to join in China, China's emperor refused. When we were at the peak of all time, your country was not conquered, how can it happen now?

Or of Chinese descent. This is alright for me as long as equal opportunities are made available to everyone.

It's okay. We have some hesitation with the deals our gov't makes. This is not the first time we've had complications in our dealings with China.
