Only in India??!! Citizens oppose helmets!!

I read a news article about citizens from various walks of life objecting to wearing helmets. They feel the rule about cumposary helmets for 2 wheelers and fines for not wearing helmets are not needed. This news has me shocked. There are lots of usual excuses including bad roads, slow speeds and inconvenience.
Activists, politicos, businessmen, NGOs all come together against police commissioner’s drive from Jan 1; form committee to protest

Stupidity rules! Of course, the speed of two-wheelers is enough to cause serious accidents with horrible consequences.

Why would anyone object to wearing a helmet? Its for their own good. Imagine having head injuries!
