Waste of Time and Gas

Our town of Fairfield; population 3,000, has a Food Bank that you can visit once a month if you qualify. The hours are from 10 am to 12:30 pm. I got there at 9:40 and there were 30 vehicles already in line. Seriously???? Out of that population of 3,000, we can roughly speculate that approximately 1,500 of those are kids under the age of 18; since we have 4 major schools here. That leaves roughly 1,500 adults. And trust me, 30 vehicles ain't nothin'. What really ticks me off is ALL those vehicles in line are SUV's, Cadillac's, F350's, etc. So much for our economy booming and unemployment being at an all-time low; supposedly. By the time I would have gotten to the front of the line, I would have been pushing the car because it would have been out of gas. So instead, I said a paragraph worth of expletives and left. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

I suspect that all those in line were not really in need, their cars proved that they had money. What a shame!

@nanette64 I am glad your sister is coming to visit. This will be the first Xmas in year that my husband and I are alone, what a relief, better alone than in bad company.

@LadyDuck I love my sister but; oye vay, by the time she's ready to leave, it's a miracle that either she or I aren't buried in my woods.

@rebelann Oh definitely the one called Robbie-Bobbie. That little stinker I've seen chase off stray dogs and fight with a raccoon.

I'm so sorry you didn't get food. Just a little thought though....we had an SUV before it was stolen because we have 5 children-not because we have money. My husband makes around $20,000 per year ($1,600-1,700 per month) for our big family-which is NOTHING with today's prices! Just because someone has a big vehicle does not mean they have money...

Oh I realize that on the vehicles @LovingMyBabies . But it does seem strange to see paper tags on the 'new' vehicle. Or there's not an older car than a 2015. Except for mine of course which is a 2000.

Sad that some people abuse the system. It happens everywhere.

I know and you would think that when someone 'applies' for help that they'd do a little more checking on who's doing the asking @valmnz .

I am sorry to hear this. Here you have to fill out paperwork and then people fill your car, but I know in the next town over you stand in line and they give you a box of fresh vegetables Walmart donates.

What's really sad too is what you get. Last month they gave me 8 bags of potato chips, 3 bags of popcorn, a huge cake, a box of donuts, a pudding pie, 1 loaf of bread, 1 bag of hot dog buns and 1 bag of hamburger buns. Oh yum!!!
