Unreasonable eBay Buyers

I love selling on eBay it has opened up business opportunities for so many people who wouldn't be able to have an online presence without it. It changes too high fees but I can forgive that. What really annoys me about it though is how they always side with the customer no matter how unreasonable they are. I had an order on the 12th of November for some invitations, the listing states dispatched in 3 working days. So they were due to be dispatched on the 15th. On the 15th I got an email saying 'why haven't my invitations arrived, they were meant to be here by today and they haven't even been marked as dispatched' I politely replied that they were due to be dispatched today not delivered today, and that she had misread the order details. I informed her that they had already been made and were ready to be dispatched in about an hours time when I did my post office run. She emailed back that evening saying 'that is totally unacceptable it is too late, you are a liar, it says they would be here by the 15th' along with a load of other abuse. Again I politely explained that they were posted on time and that she I had completed the transaction as contracted to do so. The items I sent were perfect but I knew that she would complain. Today I got an email from her saying they were bad quality and she was unhappy with them. I know there was nothing wrong with them but eBay always sides with the customer so I have had to let her return them. Normally I would just issue a refund but she has been so rude I have insisted that she post them back. It is so annoying as I shouldn't have to give her a refund but that is how eBay works.

Sorry to hear you have had a bad customer experience some people who buy online have no ethics..also sorry to hear eBay is no longer protecting its sellers they used to have mediators to help protect both buyers and sellers

I think they still say they are independent and fair but it doesn't seem that way at all. The invitations haven't arrived back to me yet so we will see what happens.

I recently went through the same thing. I sold one item and included another one free plus an accessory and free shipping. The price was extremely reasonable and I mailed them on time. The buyer wanted to return them, but I reminded him that my listing states in two places that I have a no return policy. That means absolutely nothing. You're right, ebay always sides with the buyer, no matter what the facts are. I not only had to refund the money, it also cost me ebay and paypal fees. I MIGHT buy on ebay again, but I don't plan on ever selling again. There are other sites that hopefully will be more fair. Best wishes with your selling. Have you heard of Mercari, Poshmark, and Letgo?

It is awful isn't it but you can't risk getting negative feedback so you are essentially hold to ransom. I haven't heard of those sites I will check them out, thank you for the tip :)

We'll get the feelings of annoyance at some point but there are ways to manage the feelings. There is calmness.
