The recipe for a Christmas pudding is elaborate but there are so many variations - thanks to the imagination of many. I too have my own recipe for a Christmas pudding. I do not add any silver coin or wish bone in it but instead place slips of paper each with a wish written on it. I also pour brandy over the pudding and light it, singing carols gong around it It is a family get together, Each one picks up a wish and reads it aloud that makes the whole event interesting and fun packed. Not that I do it each Christmas but I did it only once and that was enough. There is plenty of work involved. For more on the original Christmas Pudding ritual you can visit

@allknowing I remember an Agatha Christie novel where everybody helped to knead the dough for the Christmas pudding. In France they have a special cake for the Three Kings Day, where a coin is inserted and the one who find the coin is "Kind for one Day".

@sofssu The most important thing is you should remember to eat When we were kids we would get a plateful of goodies on Xmas eve. We kids would over eat and leave the rest here and there and forget to eat (lol)

Obviously I have tasted as I baked it myself. Plenty of dry fruits
What's Christmas without the pud? This is a plump pudding with history...

Sounds fun. We no longer have traditional Christmas pudding here as its summer and summery desserts are more appropriate.
