i am peeved

November 22, 2018 2:45am CST
The security guard just asked me if I had ID as I walked through reception. This is the same security guard who sees me every single morning, and who sees me running {not} up and down corridors after students who are having meltdowns over trivial things. He knows I work here. And okay, so it wasn't on display around my neck, but even if it had been, I was wrapped up snug as a bug in a rug in a coat and two scarves. What does he want me to do? Undress the minute I walk through those revolving doors? He's made me grumpy. Oh, and this is the same security guard who turns a blind eye to students blatantly smoking on site. They're supposed to get a formal warning, but he just ignores them so I have to tell them off. Sometimes doubly so because they're not wearing their ID, which he also chooses to ignore when the mood takes him. Grumpity Grump Grump. I hope I cheer up on the long walk from Staff Room to Class Room {I have to go outside ... it's cold, like 0° Celsius cold} otherwise a bunch of low ability hair students are going to feel my wrath. Isn't it silly how something so trivial can darken your day? *smile*

@poppylicious What is currently grumpifying me is the total ar*e who has thrown his big shiny 4x4 across three disability parking spaces outside the café in which I have retreated from the world. After fixing his hair in the mirror he bounced into the café guffawing wildly into his mobile while using his free hand to scratch the balled-up socks that he has stuffed down the front of his too tight track suit. He has ordered a skinny cappuccino to go and I do wish barista Bob would hurry up with it so that the ar*e can bounce out of my vision as soon as possible. No doubt I'll have to get up when he departs and close the door after him. I suppose I could have saved this rant for a post in its own right but I didn't.

@pgntwo It's the only explanation I can think of.

Balled-up socks? Really?

Barista Bob is a slow barista if you had time to write all that!

Does this guard have a superior? I think what you've described here is enough for a complaint.

Probably, but he was right to question me. We're supposed to do it to students, even when we know they're supposed to be on site. What annoyed me more - and I can't believe I've only just remembered - is that he then started to talk to someone else and didn't even check I got it out!

@Poppylicious I know the feeling...

Yeah, I know he had to ask, but it frustrated me because it was cold and I was wrapped up all cosy. :)

Stupidity has no limits. Too many times those who are only there to "check" if people are authorised to enter a place feel like they were Gods, deciding who can do what. I would have also been grumpy.

Yeah. Sh*t happens, but for it to appear so early in the day is truly a bummer.

Either he is just bored and wants something to do, or maybe the bit about making you undress is a bit more sinister. You might have to ask around to see if it is only the women of whom he makes demands of this type.

Lolz, no. He's just doing his job, annoying as it is.
