What food did you have at your Thanksgiving dinner?

My mom decided to host Thanksgiving this year. There was way too much food. Aside from the turkey though there were no other traditional Thanksgiving dishes. No sweet potatoes. No Brussels sprouts. Not even cranberry sauce. Maybe mashed potatoes can be counted as a traditional dish but there was no gravy to go along with it. Most of the food consisted of salads and many were "Russian" salads like oliv'ye, beet salad, shuba (dressed herring salad aka herring under a fur coat, which has beets in it), and vinegret (another type of beet salad), all of which are traditional Russian dishes. There was also chicken liver pate, herring, and buckwheat. By the time the turkey was on the table I was already pretty full from eating all those salads and appetizers. I want to have a traditional Thanksgiving but if I want for that to happen I need to host it myself. Next year, I am thinking of doing that, though it's a pretty big undertaking and I am not sure I can pull it off. What food did you have for Thanksgiving?

Now that's a more traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Wish I had that.

As I did not spend Thanksgiving with family, I was at the mercy of a hostess creating the traditional spread. My family always has had homemade spaghetti and was missed dearly. However, I was thankful to have food, period.

That is something to be thankful for for sure.
