Hi My Lot! I have missed you all. First off, for those celebrating it - I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and hope you got in on a lot of turkey, dressing, cranberries, olives - those are my favorite Thanksgiving dishes, what are yours? So, like my regular readers, aw shucks, wait a minute, readers, no - friends! Yes! -- might remember in my "Just Another Day in Paradise" post - things have been extra stressful lately. We've all had another stay at the Hope Lodge - for those who don't know this is in preparation for my mom's upcoming surgery on the 5th December. Her surgery will be to correct damage from other procedures. At least - it is not cancer. We are all happy and thankful for that. In the meantime my dad's health has really gone down hill fast. No one is treating his chronic pain, and his chronic pain is effecting all of his other conditions - such as heart. On Friday we got to spend another rousing 3 hours at the heart clinic , no he wasn't having a heart attack, his pain made it feel like he was though. Most notably his pain makes all of his various mental ailments much worse. Life is, difficult to say least. Even when he isn't in a bad mood, he is still a challenge - like I was telling a special friend of mine - imagine the following. Since dad doesn't get around too well - he does need to be waited on. Which isn't so bad. But it's all in how things are presented. Right when you sit down, is precisely when he needs something else. Rub his back, and when you are done with that get him an orange juice. Heat up his soup and now he wants soda not juice. The soup is not hot enough, re-heat it. While you are re-heating the soup, he manages to spill juice all over. You clean it up, and after you clean it up you bring the soup. And crackers. And salt. And another napkin. And a glass of milk. And an ice cream bar. All separate trips. (in the meantime your food is ice cold). After dinner you are given a list with 15 things on it that will require you to go to 3 different stores. Before you go to the shops, he needs a shoulder massage and a tray of snacks. While shopping, you notice they are out of his favorite brand of cleaner, so you get the next one. When you return home he bellows that you have left him so thirsty with nothing to drink. You literally run a glass of Mountain Dew to him. He promptly leaves it sit. He examines your purchases - and you have to spend the next 15 minutes explaining that the store was out of xyz cleaner so you got abc instead.... well pretty soon he will go down for a nap, which will be a nice chance for you to have some you time..... with the laundry, floors and meal preparing. That is an example of how taking care of my dad is. So I will need to be his primary caregiver for the next couple of weeks, and also for my mom out of surgery. She is fine and pleasant to care for, but her surgery will be stressful all the same. However it will solve many issues for her. I hope to be on here as I can.... Oh - I apologize. I did get caught up on notifications but I have the suspicion that I didn't get to everyone and I apologize for that. Hope you all are doing well Photo: Pixabay

You sound like you have a lot of your plate and sending you thoughts and prayers. As much as your parents need help don't forget to take some time for yourself too.

Tony has did this to me before, I remember yelling from the toilet where I was to have a few minutes of sitting. Does you dad have his gallbladder? Gallstones can mimic a heart attack. You are a good woman to care for your parents.

Ahhhhh! How did you handle the situation with Tony? I hope he was able to let you rest a bit. Oh yes, good thought - dad does have his gallbladder - it's full of stones, too but he refuses to get it out. Thank you dear.

@FayeHazel I`m not really sure about getting deleted if not handled well. I just check what notifications are available and attend to it as much as possible that I can handle

We've been a bit of caregiving to my grandma of 90 years. She's still strong and could think for what she wants. She doesn't have that dementia like all the others.

@FayeHazel There are people here who put cheese on it but I've never understood it. How can that be good? I love cheese but not on pie. It's not impossible. Miracles happen all the time.

@xander6464 MMmm to be honest I haven't done the cheese on apple pie, but Taco John's has the apple grande desert - (fried taco shell, apple pie filling, and cheese) it's glorious. Well you are right, I will try and be more hopeful as we are on the countdown to my 2 week (appx) sentence. I keep reminding myself that as long as mom is alright I'll be happy. :-)

Thanks fellow Vicki :-) (I'm claiming it, too, middle name after all, lol) You're right, I do pray often, but sometimes I forget to lean fully on God. Thanks for the prayers we all appreciate it.

So sorry for your stress and your parent's health issues I know how trying it can be caring for parent's in failing health. Having family to assist can really be the best medicine during troubled times like these. I know with me, when I began to get frustrated with the demands of being a caregiver, because it is not easy, I would remember all the times my parents were there to help me....

Thank you, I do try :-) Well mom is good on going in for needed medical issues. Dad fights it. It is a huge source of stress. But everyone I ask says you cannot force him to get medical advice. It is his choice
