What a Difference a Day Makes

Saturday was a busy day for us. It was Shop Local Saturday and I wanted to check out a second hand store that is owned by a friend. Before shopping we met my husband's aunt who treated Little Miss and I to breakfast. Little Miss kept saying that her tummy hurt and that she was going to puke. Took her to the bathroom several times. Nothing. So I chalked it up to normal 3 year-old behavior. After breakfast we went directly to the store. There was a small place for littles to play. Little Miss wanted to go in the gated area to play, but I wouldn't leave her unattended to do so. So we waited until I finished browsing the racks. Found some really good buys including 2 Melissa and Doug books (new) that I will give her for gifts this Christmas. While in the check-out line I let her play with the toys in the gated area. We dropped Aunt Jo off at her house and headed to visit a client who I found is also my cousin on my grandfather's side. On the way we stopped for cookies at a local bakery. Little Miss ate a cookie on the ride to my cousin's. Suddenly I heard her moan just a little then she spewed all over herself, the car seat, and floorboard. Once we arrived at my cousins I took off her coat, retrieved the clothes I purchased and headed inside. Told my cousin of the dilemma we just had. Cleaned Little Miss and changed her clothes. I then went back outside and cleaned up the car. She seemed fine for the rest of the day and night. The next day she was weary and clingy. She had little appetite. That night she ran a fever of 102.6. I called the office to say I wouldn't be in the next day. The next morning her fever was gone, but her appetite still hadn't returned. We watched our fair share of Puppy Dog Pals and Paw Patrol, and a couple of episodes of Vamperina. Then she slowly started to pick up speed again. Lay her down for a nap which proved to be a waste of time. She lay there for 2 hours and didn't sleep at all. Once I told her she could get up she was a happy camper and it was clear that she felt 100% better. She played with her toys for hours. It proves that sometimes, just a little R&R can get you back up to snuff. As an adult we often forget that and push ourselves to keep going. We need to take a lesson from the littles and slow ourselves down. Do you push yourself to keep going or relax and rest when you aren't feeling well?

I usually push myself to do, but I know that resting and relaxing is often a better option.

It is a better option to rest. Sometimes just sitting with your feet up is enough.

Vomiting in a car makes an awful mess and you need to be sure to get it out of all the corners and creases. It's good Little Miss is better now.

I had to use an old toothbrush to clean out those tight places. Yuck.

Better to take time out than to push until you crash.

I usually take it easy if I'm not up to snuff.

Little Miss sounds cute. I like how you met family members, did they help you with Little Miss ? Imagine walking outside, everyone is a family member. One works at the police, one works at the shop, one works at the hospital, everyone give you space in the bus to sit next to them, everyone invite you for dinner, a cup of coffee... Everyone helps you taking care of Little Miss, so she has all of her needs taken care of and a lot of fun :-) Isn't life feel much better this way ? I tend to relax and rest if I can when I'm sick.

These days I will take a down day if I don't feel up to snuff, being retired has its benefit.

I'm so glad she recovered so quickly. When I'm ill, I'm really ill and am bedridden until all better. I never push myself when unwell.
