The Clearing/Cleaning Has Began

Yesterday evening I went to my sisters house with the cooler in tow, I had filled it with my stockpile of toaster strudels, biscuits Tony`s sister brought when the hurricane hit, ice cream bars and frozen pops.
That cleaned off a shelf.
Tomorrow I will take off another mess of food to the elderly ladies. This time it will be vegetables, I have a lot and I want to clean out one freezer and turn it off.
If there is anything that I put in there this year that can be homed canned I will, like fruit I picked and did not have time to can, or was out of jars etc.
I have 2 deep freezers one small chest ( yes that too) and one upright. I have to clean out both but I want to use the upright and cut off the small chest. That should save me a couple dollars a month on the power bill plus I want to do more to reduce power so I can maybe, if its Gods will, to get the solar installed.
Yep! Getting off the grid is on my mind.

LOL, I dont eat much meat either but I do grow enough food for a year.

@andriaperry Yes, they do. My parents had a garden the whole time I was growing up and up until they couldn't garden any longer.

I used to have one filled with deer and fish but I can the deer meat now and he has not fished, so its veggies and I hav to many so I will clean one out before they spoil.

@andriaperry The fridge part pretty much stays empty (there are only 2 of us after all) but I do use it when we are having parties. I prepare as much as possible in advance and store some of it in the downstairs fridge. Or I'll use it to thaw a turkey or something. I do use the freezer side regularly though. I buy meat when it is on sale and the upstairs freezer is usually almost full so having the extra one downstairs is helpful.

I don't have a deep freezer, but I would like a small one..as I could use one..especially with our freezer it is oddly configured since it has a tap outside for water.and ice.and it is hard to put certain things in there like pizza boxes for instance.

We have a deep freezer and an upright. I have thought about starting to can more of the meat we have so I could shut one of them off.
