Too much love

I gave my friend a whole bunch of plants a couple of weeks ago .. I have been asking her how there are doing periodically.. and today she called and was in tears.. I learnt that her plants looked wilted a couple of days ago and she has been giving them water a few times a day and fertilizer a couple of times since then. I I know it means sure death to those young plants and she begs me to say that all is well. Sometimes too much love is bad.. plants need a little bit of drying out so they can delve deep into the earth and establish their roots.. watering plants too often only encourages the to develop surface roots that dry up quickly when it get a bit too warm, It would do children a world of good to learn patience and wait for the stuff they want.. Instant gratification and over indulgence is what is troubling our children today. .. The same applies to us too we need to go trough dry phases to find inner strength.. what are your views?

Everything in excess is wrong, too much food is wrong, too much water to the plants, too much power in the hands of one man.

@LadyDuck Absolutely Anna.. moderation is the key.. too much love is suffocating,.. it drowns the very life it gives.. I am reminded of Hitler from what said and Othello from my statements.

@LadyDuck He was a megalomaniac .. considered himself God and did what he thought would save the human race..

@sofssu Hitler had an abusive father, described as "tyrranical" and physically abusive. He used to beat both Adolf and his brother with a whip. The Harvard Psychological Clinic suggests that Hitler's hatred for his father fueled his hatred of Jews.

If it's too wet worms or ants would infest them.

Yes I tend to over do it with plants which is why I do not have any. Also for some reason the plants always get those flying gnats inside and I dont like it.

@Courage7 The gnats get into containers that have excess moisture in them.. a little love goes a long way with plants.

I wrote about my relationship with the plants. Each plant requires a different attention, so do people, but I think that too much love in people does not make anything bad.

@Nevena83 Maybe you should consider children with behavioral issues and young people with substance abuse problem.. I have been working with them for years now and can assure you that tough love is better any day.

@Nevena83 It does .. they tend to take advantage of it, they also have difficulty adjusting to negative situations later in life.

@sofssu When you mentioned children ... I think when we give too much love to children, it can have a counter effect.

Of course the struggle will make us stronger and sharper. In case of plants it needs its own time and suitable atmosphere to grow.

@Sreekala Absolutely. agreed. Even plants benefit from struggles.. my older plants have marks of struggles on them they are survivors. I know the have deep roots..

Atleast she did not pull out to see if roots have developed. I used to do that as a kid and kill those plants (lol)

It must be difficult for her, knowing that she did her best to take care of her plant. As much as it’s difficult for parents who showed love to their kids and still they go astray.

@sol_cee it is difficult, for people who care so much, but the reality is that moderation/discipline is the name of the game.

I love this post. This is really true. Many times we need patience a lot more than required and patience with cautious efforts are crucial.
