Christmas Tree Trimming and Decorations

I don't know what's happening to me but I'm totally out of my usual morning routine. Lately I've been getting side-tracked with coffee #1 and by the time I'm ready for coffee #2 time has flown by. Happy Saturday and Happy December everyone! It's already nearing time for lunch and I'm just getting here to say hello. I'm shaking my head that this day is already flying by. My day started off with making a list of gifts I've already gotten and what I still need to buy. Thankfully the list of the bought gifts is now bigger than the "to buy" gifts. I am determined to get the tree decorated today. It's been standing in the living room for a week now and it looks a bit naked without any ornaments. I do like having it lit at night as it gives such nice ambiance even without ornaments. My tree is decorated in all sorts of things. I still have very old ornaments from years gone by, some from my parents, and a few little odds and ends of my childrens childhood Christmases and more currents ornaments from recent years. Each year I try to add something new to our decorations. This year it's a nice size Nutcracker that is probably about 2 feet tall and is standing in front of our entertainment center. I also got a new tree skirt from Etsy that is handmade and beautiful. I've been looking for the perfect tree skirt for years and finally found one at this shop on Etsy. I love Etsy. Do you ever shop there? Once the tree is done it will be nice to get all the buckets and crates back into the garage and make room for wrapping gifts. My dining room is the room where everything is stacked right now and it's getting crowded. Good thing no one is coming for dinner anytime soon. So, my friends, that's my plans for the day. What's going on with you today?

I do hope that you get the tree decorated today. This afternoon my husband and I are going to a meat market as they are having a 4-day open house with taste testing. There are some things that they sell that we've not tried, so I thought that if we go together we can try a little bit of everything and maybe find something new to try here at home together.

You have a lot on your plate. No, I don't shop at Etsy, even though I've visited it.

I do not shop there.. but have heard nice things from those who do. We try to put new ornaments every few years, but we usually just stick to the ones i grew up with. We're just attached i guess, and it makes it weird to not use them.

I bought a tree skirt while I was out and out about. I wanted to get a white tree this year, but unless I can find a low cost one that won't be happening. I do have a table top model I can stick on the tree skirt though..it will look festive enough.

We need to start doing something about a tree or we won't be having one. I think we're going to Vince's brother's place for Christmas.

My plans for today is to get myself in gear and get some miniature teddy bears made to go into the shop for sale. I've been kind of lax in working on bears of late...well for the past 14 months. I get a few done here and there but not like I usually do. Today is a good day to work on them because The Lone Ranger will be on the TV. I've been making teddy bears for the past 34 years and have been selling them for just as long. It is something that helps me keep my pain levels in check. I don't know when we'll put up our Christmas tree. It was a gift from one of the neighbors last year after my house burned down. Everything I owned burned with the house so the tree was a blessing. I'll put it up because of how special it is, we don't have many decorations for it, I may pick up some at the local Goodwill next week. I'll have to move some of my teddy bear making supplies to make room for the tree...one two three shift two three Of course that's what happens when you end up having to move in with a neighbor... But on the bright side I am planning to spend the next few weeks making teddy bears. It's something that I love doing, I've always loved crafting from when I was a tiny kid through today. I always was making something. In high school I was involved in throwing pots on the potter's wheel. They weren't great but I had fun making them. But I discovered making teddy bears and that was a perfect fit...and it still is. I both design and make them....and have a ton of fun doing both. After Bill gets up I'll make some hot tea, grab a chocolate chip/coconut muffin and get back to work. I hope you post a picture of your decorated tree. I love viewing everyone's tree, even if I'm not to into decorating my own tree since my house burned down last year. It's a ton of fun for me to see how everyone else decorates their trees. Have fun doing it!
