I got an unexpected early Christmas present yesterday, sort of

My daughter's have purchased several fitbits in the past and when they upgrade to a newer version they've given me their older ones. The first that I had was the fitbit charge. It worked well, but the way it was designed for charging wasn't the best and eventually that part would break. My younger daughter replaced hers once free of charge, I think when the charging unit broke. But later she went with a newer design which is the one in the picture. It's called a Fitbit blaze. When she purchased that one she gave me the one that was replaced. I don't know how long I was able to use it for eventually the charging unit fell apart for me too. In the mean time I've been using an approved app for our insurance without using anything except the app itself. I tried using my phone to measure steps with my older phone and it didn't work well. I never thought to try again with my motorola phone. Yesterday, my daughter asked whether I would like her older watch, the Blaze. I wanted to pay her something for it and she agreed, but later she decided it would be my Christmas present. We don't normally buy for each other at Christmas as we don't have extra money this time of year, normally. So, I'm still happy with a used unit and it will save me buying one for myself. Do any of you use fitbit or one of the other many apps for exercise or monitoring your health? Now, I'm synced to my phone with the new watch. So, we'll see how well I do during my next month off work. My first couple of weeks off I lost about eight pounds, but since then I've gained that back and gone higher than I have in recent years. I've been wanting to make changes, but haven't quite got there. I shopped yesterday and bought mostly fresh foods for myself and hope to stick with that. I know from experience that if I can go two weeks without many carbs that my sugar cravings will stop. I thought I'd be fine giving up candy and chips, but I've been snacking on saltine crackers and some bread and later at night than I should be. So I also need to try to get to bed earlier so I'm not wanting to snack late. Yesterday, I did pretty good. After shopping I had a salad, and then later to snack on I had cottage cheese. I also had some other things low in carbs. I started to today with eggs and two pieces of sausage and finished the cottage cheese for lunch.

I don't bother with things like fitbits etc I simply eat healthy organic foods except the fish of course. I've actually found organic chicken and beef in Costco.

To get better savings with our insurance if we do a certain amount of steps per day and other things we get paid from corporate. I've done it before using just a pedometer, but sometimes I wonder whether I sleep that well or not and that was the one reason I tried it before. Anything to help me get back to where I was a few years ago when I dropped thirty pounds. I've not gained all of that back, but more than desired. And, the device is free to me so better yet.

I like cottage cheese a lot too. Sometimes I include it in my smoothies instead of yogurt and sometimes I use it instead of sour cream on mexican. I know it sounds weird, but I think it's good. I just finished some Dean's cottage cheese with chives that I bought a few weeks ago. So, now my current container should be okay for another week or so unless I eat it faster than that.

Sometimes there are apps that will monitor your walking at least. It didn't work well with my previous phone and I didn't think to try it again with this one
