It Wouldn't Be Tradition If.....

Someone didn't break an ornament....yes, at least one ornament has to be offered up to the holidays gods before it's official. So, that someone is me....I broke the first ornament before. I don't even know how I knocked it off the tree but I heard the crash and next thing I know I'm sweeping up the broken glass and then dragging out the vacuum to get the little pieces the broom missed. Guess we can move on to the holidays now because the first ornament was sacrificed

Oh no! Ah, but it happens. I don't think we have any more glass ornaments here - but even they will fall off the tree somehow.

@Marilynda1225 I'm sorry it was a favorite one! I remember those glass ones can be quite thin and the glass goes into tiny pieces all over the place.

As disappointed as I was to lose a favorite ornament I think I was more mad to have to clean up the mess

We do not have glass ornaments. Especially not after I was trying to show my mom this brand new ornament I got from a teacher, it had my name on it and I dropped it. I was 8 and I was mortified. I am still haunted by that moment.

That is sad to break something you treasured. I'm happy the one I broke wasn't sentimental

I hope that the ornament was NOT one of your favorites.

Cleaning up a broken light bulb isn't fun. Those shardes of glass are so tiny

@Marilynda1225 No, they weren't. Thanks. We never got into buying the special ones, so they're just ornaments.

I think that is a tradition that many of us have. It seems that no matter how hard you try you always end up with a broken ornament.

I was so mad because it was one of my favorites. I try so hard to place the glass ones higher up so they don't fall and break. I think this one jumped off the tree lol

@Marilynda1225 It does seem as though they take on a life of their own sometimes. I'm sorry it was one of your favorites.

I know this happens and this is why I do not hang anymore the old glass ornaments that were part of my childhood decorations.

Hope it wasn't a special ornament! I have lots of plain colored balls that wouldn't be missed, but I'd sure hate to break a special one.
