I am a vegetarian for almost 14 years.... willingly. I have been hearing that people's views about vegan or benefits of being vegan. I was wondering if it was really beneficial to be a vegan? What do you think can change your life being a strict vegan?

AThe creator of the earth thought about providing food to its creature he thought about a balance in everything including food. Later people found some foods healthier than others and discarded some of them. Later they chose according to their choice so whatever you eat is your choice so nothing is wrong or right about that.

You could be a cannibal for all I care, I’m not discussing what food choices are “right or wrong,” im discussing which are healthier. We need high amounts of protein in our bodies to perform at optimal levels. Vegans also lack essential fatty acids. Studied dietetics for my ungrad, so I have a fair amount knowledge on this. But then you have the fake plant lovers xoxo who want to be vegan to say their vegan, sounds crazy but it happens with younger people yes.

@Nikkkki12 You have protein sources as good as meat in soy, nuts and lentils. However, I don't think eating meat is unhealthy in any way.

There is nothing wrong with any dietary habits but being a vegan is really tough decision. I am a vegetarian for almost 14 years and don't feel I am missing on anything. You have vegetarian options of meat.

@Moon24 Any thing in moderation is fine. They say the vegans do it for the sake of their health reasons or save the world from adverse effects due to gases released by animals.

It makes no difference what you eat as long you have no problem in digesting it or you feel comfortable eating it . Actually my daughter objected to eat non-veg when I took her out to eat chicken for the first time (we are vegetarian at home), so I also stopped eating all non-vegetarian items.

I love being a plant-based vegan by choice, ( no processed food ) 2 yrs. It saved my life so I will never go back. I am healthier & stronger now then I've been in my whole life. I'm in my late 50s.

My best wishes for staying fit and healthy... I think most people I know going for total vegan diet for a health related issue or for experiment purpose. In most cases it helps as plant based diets give them everything they need and nothing unwanted... well in most cases.

I think most people do it due to some kind of allergies to dairy products otherwise none would want to live without milk, yogurt, butter and cheese.

Hi, I have been vegetarian for almost 29 years, I think it is a bit hard to go vegan if you love cheese like me, although there are lots of alternatives.

There are many benefits to being vegan. Most we know who are vegan do this for health reasons. Some we know do this to save the animals. Try it and see if you see a difference.

I suppose it depends whether you can get all the vitamins and minerals you need in the vegan food you have available.

True but what I feel is that vegan diet reduces your chances of a healthy food considerably. However, that's not the case with vegetarian diet.

That's the right way of eating imho. After all we have to keep a balance in what is available to us and what is not...
