Do clothes make the man?

There is a famous saying that 'clothes make the man'. I think it shouldn't be in this way, but I guess it's a true statement. People nowadays judge us according to the way we dress. If we go to an interview and we don't know how to dress it's possible to not get the job. There were experiments made. People who had suits were helped. People who were poorly dressed were ignored. Those people faked symptoms of being sick. They even fell to the ground. Do you think clothes make the man?

It should not be this way, but it is. Look how people are ready to make a favor to someone who is well dressed and look professional and how they avoid those who looks to be homeless.

It's sad that clothes are more important than people.

No, I don't think so.. I think a persons attitude to life makes him/her what he/she is.

People are respected and ignored on the basis of their dress.

In most cases I think this saying makes sense but not all in situation. There are times this is not applicable.

Not even close. It is a package thing, many things are involved, in my opinion.

It does not matter to me what kind of clothes someone wears. I think people are watching the clothes as you said in an interview for job.
