Why do girls / women do this?

This isn't a stab at anyone who does this nor a sexist remark! It's just an observation!!!! There have been SO many times where I see a commercial / advertisement on Facebook for jewellery, clothes, makeup etc ( womanly items ) and 98% of comments on that post are girls / women tagging their boyfriends / husbands asking or sometimes demanding to go buy it for them. Why can't they just go and buy it themselves? I can understand if it's a hint to their partners on what they want for their birthday or Christmas but otherwise, go treat yourself if you have the money to do so. I do think it's nice when someone we know buys us random gifts but not everything we desire should be taking money away from someone we love. Again, JUST AN OBSERVATION! I'm a woman so it's not like I'm picking on one gender. I could probably count on one hand me seeing a man doing this but I'd need a few hundred hands to count the times women have done it.

I can relate to you too! When I visit social media and there's a post about makeup or clothes, they always tagged their friends or boyfriend with a message (I want this for Christmas!)

@tech40 Yep! Glad you have seen this too! It seems to be a very common thing that happens.

@VivaLaDani13 It's all over the social media since Christmas is coming, and there's one thing I found, so I was reading some comments and someone said "this one looks good to you, do you want a new leash for this Christmas?" and she tagged someone when I checked the profile. It's a DOG! I wish the dog can reply?!

@VivaLaDani13 because I got curious since she said that she will give a new leash for someone. "Wait for a human?" So I decided to check the profile and shock what I found. It's a regular facebook profile and not a fan page, and guess what! That dog account updates its "status!" like "I'm eating my dinner!" and a picture of a dog eating his/her meal.

I have never done this! Why? I watched gold diggers do this to my dad, but they called it window shopping back then. My dad always taught me NOT to do this and like you said , want it buy it yourself.

@andriaperry I admire your answer and how you view something like this. I'm very sorry your dad went through all that! I can say I understand but obviously in a different way. My ex was very selfish and would borrow / take money from me way too many times or get me pay for our food / entertainment and he still owes me money but he said he won't give it back. Out of the 2 and a half years of dating, he never treated me out for dinner or anything. Not that I expected him too but it would have been nice to feel like I wasn't being used as his personal bank. So I'm more careful nowadays.

i usually do buy for myself. but yea,i do know a few women who have no problem trying to get other people to buy them stuff.but they're mainly really young..might have gotten used to not paying for things themselves.

@scarlet_woman You make a good point because they usually are younger women who beg their partner to buy stuff. Good observation!

I hadn't noticed that trend, I personally never ask a man to buy me anything.

@rebelann That is fair enough. I would never do that either.

If a woman wants something she should go buy it herself, unless she is broke, in which case she can ask her bf/spouse to buy it for her as a gift. But she should not except to get that item...

@lovebuglena I absolutely agree with you. It's how I feel about all this.

I have never been one to do this, we don't have much money and I'm fine if I don't get it or if I have enough saved up for me to buy I will.

@hillhjill I've never done it before either. I'm glad that you don't feel the need to ask others to buy things you like. I don't ever see myself doing this. I'd feel way too guilty.

@hillhjill lol well it does change things when someone offers. Much different than when someone demands them to get something for them.

@VivaLaDani13 That's pretty much the way I feel, unless my hubby says he will get it then awesome lol.

Maybe they will like to be more direct to the guy so that he could buy what they want instead of having to guess and get it all wrong.

@id_peace I have thought about this too. That could very well be a reason and that is fair enough. It's just how some women talk to their partner. Pretty much dictating them to go buy it instead of asking politely.

There are things that I only buy by myself (makeup, clothes, perfumes). I think it's really rude to ask for jewelry, this is something expensive and a woman should not feel a man obliged to buy something.

@VivaLaDani13 Women who only have money and expensive gift in mind will never be good wives and mothers.

@LadyDuck I totally agree with you! It reminds me about my "friends" in high school. Some of the girls would speak about wanting to marry a rich husband so he could buy her expensive things. Their talk always make me cringe.

well, if most of those are married women, they are probably hinting their husbands what to buy. Not all husbands are very creative, imaginative or thoughtful as to what they will give to their spouses. Hey, I am talking from experience here.

@VivaLaDani13 well, for some they may think it might work for their partners. For others like boyfriends, they should not demand like that.

@rakski lol well I can understand if it's for a birthday or Christmas gift but I don't know how someone could just demand their partner to buy them something on a random day. Especially something expensive.

I have been guilty of this. But I don't request of any jewelry to Chris anymore. I did request for him to get me some dvds for Christmas this year.

@JESSY3236 That is fair enough. I honestly hope I didn't offend you. I was just speaking about something I observed. I hope you get the DVDs you want for Christmas.

@VivaLaDani13 I understand what you were saying here. I have no one to buy me gifts so if I want something I buy it for myself or buy something for my cat for a special occasion.

@Hannihar Thank you for understanding where I was coming from. It's just something I don't understand. And don't like the way it sounds so demanding when some people are wanting someone else to buy something for them. It's cute and sweet you buy things for your cat.

@Hannihar I understand. I have a cat and dog and I give them love every day. Cuddle them and / or pat their fluffy faces lol

@Nevena83 It sure is nice when someone gives you something for no reason. I think that is very sweet. It's just when someone demands their loved one to get them something and get annoyed if they don't is what bothers me.
