I'm sure most of know the song where this lyric comes from “Chestnuts roasting on a open fire.” ~ Have you ever had roasted chestnuts? ~ Have you ever had any kind of roasted nut? Now tell the truth. Any nut tastes better if it if's roasted. AGREE?

I doubt that walnuts and hazelnuts taste better when they're roasted.

No, they burn and get an unpleasant taste. Toasted in a pan or in the oven they are good. Roasted on an open fire only chestnuts are good.

I figured there were probably some nuts that didn't roast well. Honestly I don't know anything about open fires. If I try to roast something on a open fire, I might burn the whole place down! LOL.

I do know how roast nuts in the oven though.

I like nuts roasted. We get roasted peanuts and I enjoy them. I have also tasted roasted almonds.

Roasted chestnuts are one of the most popular thing sold in the Christmas Markets in this country. I love them.

At parades, when I was growing up or at a ball game, you could always count on somebody selling bags of roasted peanuts. You knew when they were coming your way. You could smell that wonderful smell of roasted nuts wafting through the air.
