I read and checked the manuscript given by a group of students that I handled in medical ward because they will present liver cirrhosis on Monday. A friend request was sent to me by a member of the group to inform me that they will get the corrected manuscript this afternoon. Of course I don’t accept any friend request when they are still students. I did not correct the entire manuscript. There should still be corrections and reactions made by the other clinical instructors and students, but one comment that I really focused on is the topics they printed. The references or sources of information were not shown; there is no acknowledgement. The introduction is 2 pages and all copy - pasted from the Internet. We often suggest they should post the sources or post it in their own words in reference to where they got it from. It will be 10 points against them if they don't fix their case presentation.

Nowadays being credited is one of the best thing to help the author itself and I feel annoyed for those people who copied other things and they're trying to own it even if they're not the one who made it I wish they are able to fix it

@ridingbet There are someone fro social media, she posted a video about a live music performance (which is from the internet) then someone posted it in a fan page. and that person is asking to be credited since she is the first one who posted the video about that music and I'd be like (What? Why do you need a credit? Are you the cameraman who took the video?) Yup that is correct, there's a lots of police here in myLot so usually if I found something fishy I didn't every respond into it

@tech40 hahaha! really, they do that ? they wanted to be credited first for uploading the video? maybe this lady wants the limelight for herself. that is so funny but it is true. many want to be acknowledged first in social media. (or maybe the cameraman is her partner?) like in bubblews, i was also a victim of plagiarism, not on posts but a certain picture of a flower in one of my posts. the culprit was a male Indian.

i agree with you. isn't it you are also a teacher? in any way, copy-pasting from other sources like the internet is a big NO NO for us instructors especially if we teach college and high school students. it is but right that the author should be acknowledged. even in this site, there are some users who plagiarized some of their posts from the net, and good thing we do our part to police the site.

@simplfred isn't it you are working full time online now? do you, by any chance, get plagiarized by some persons too?

In thesis writing, it is important to always cite/credit your sources and references.

yes i agree with you. they are still students and their sources are all medically-oriented topics so i don't think anybody among them can make a book out of their own knowledge.

They should develop the topic using their words. If they cite a phrase from the Internet, they must cite the source. You are right it is plagiarism.

@ridingbet They do not cite the sources because they want people believe that they wrote the text. Exactly as the plagiarists do here.

@LadyDuck on Monday, i hope the manuscript is the revised version where sources are already cited. it will be a failure for us teachers if the students do not listen to our advice.

yes, that is what we always tell them. plagiarism should be avoided even in student case studies. they can cite the sources between statements in parenthesis, or add as footnotes in every page.

They should cite the references. It is of course plagiarism if they don't mention the source.

@thelme55 so, how do you deal about the plagiarism with your articles in your blog on HubPages?

surely there will be 10 points deducted if they don't include the sources. i dislike plagiarism, even in sites like this.

@ridingbet I hate that, too. Some of my articles in HubPages are plagiarized. I have already complained and they get it down until they put it up again.

They need to write in the report where the information came from.

this is one manuscript where the sources of information were not added. this afternoon, 2 students (1 male and 1 female) took the manuscript and i reiterated that they should include their reference books or they will have negative 10 points if the sources are not added.
