A post at a normal hour and some work stories.

Because of my work schedule I am rarely around at normal hours. But since I have a little bit of time before I need to get ready for work, I figured I would pop in and elaborate on the two people that got fired this past week at work. On Wednesday night we were shutting the kitchen down and one of the "board" guys (sandwich maker) was in the back sink washing the fry warmer and he got a phone call. I guess he thought because it was close to closing time it didn't matter if he answered it or not. Well he did, our shift manager saw him on the phone and asked him to get off while reminding him that he wasn't supposed to be on the phone while he was on the clock. He refused to get off the phone. When she asked again she told him a little sterner to get off the phone. He did but as she turned around he muttered something under his voice and then flipped her off. We all witnessed it. It's on camera. The thing he muttered was also not so nice. She heard that part as well. So he was terminated on the spot. Last night one of the other board guys, who has been a complete donkeys rear since he started. He started right before I did and he's been a pain every single shift since I started. He doesn't listen, he tries to boss people around, I found him outside smoking pot on his break on store property. The list is endless. Well we were fairly busy during the dinner rush last night and he was cussing at a couple of our expediters. Both of whom are minors. I mean he shouldn't of cussed at anyone, but the fact that he was blatently cussing at two minor girls was over the line. Management gave him a warning. He grumbled and threw stuff around angrily for a little while and when it came time for his break he acted like he was clocking out. I was on the front counter so I was right there when he said he was. It looked like he was, but I wasn't paying too close of attention. Anyway. Forty five minutes later he still wasn't back from his thirty minute lunch break, a couple of us went out to the parking lot and looked for him. He had just left. He had also never clocked out. So those are the stories from work. There's a couple other customer stories. But I'll save those for another time and another post.

I am wondering if the latter guy will pick up his last paycheck? Or maybe those are direct deposited and he thinks by not clocking out his time won't be adjusted? I don't know, maybe he didn't consider that at all. I have a story to tell of my own. When I was a cashier at the last job I had, before I went to being a stock clerk, the assistant grocery manager and the manager over grocery (so not the grocery manager but the manager above, and in charge of, the grocery manager) had a disagreement. The guy said something bad about her. I get a call on my day off from the manager over grocery, she wants to know if I heard what was said. I told her I did not though I did. I wasn't going to be responsible for the guy being fired because I didn't know the full details of the disagreement. He was eventually transferred.

He automatically gets terminated because he walked off the job. There's no one at our location who is going to miss him so it's not going to matter. Checks are direct deposited or mailed to the last address on file.

@thislittlepennyearns I figured it would be direct deposited or mailed. Most places do that but I've known of a few places that allow you to pick your check up if you'd prefer.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I highly doubt he's gonna show his face again. And he was on probation . Keeping a job was part of his probation

Wow these people sound like they don’t really care if they have their job or not.

Some people are really hard to get along with and have very little work ethic and fewer manners.

Oh the restaurant drama! I remember it all to well. I worked my teenage years in fast food and restaurants. You see and hear a lot. fast food employees come and go so fast you can barely remember their names.

They do go fast. People just don't want to work anymore.

Those kind of people do not encourage one to dine out. How sloppy they might be in food prep.
