Learning to Use My New Smartphone

My New Galaxy Note 9 Phone with Some Accessories

Yes, I finally broke down and bought a smartphone. It was the only way I could jump in and really enjoy Instagram. Posting something from my husband's phone was a pain. I hate the tiny keyboard, but I dictate most of my posts orally from my new Galaxy Note 9. I also have a keyboard I bought for my Ellipsis 8 tablet that never worked. Verizon sold it to me at least a couple of years ago and it never charged properly enough to use. I should have returned it, but I thought I just needed to be patient. Stupid me. But it turns out I'll be using the keyboard a lot. I usually start an Instagram post by dictating and then correct mistakes on the portable keyboard. I love the camera on the phone. It's the main reason I bought it. To see some of what I've been doing with it, follow me as barbradis on Instagram. Thank you to those who are already following me. I love getting to know you better there, too. As you all may have guessed, learning to use my new phone and spending time on Instagram have kept me away from here more than I would have liked. I also got some work done in the garden Thursday and it really felt good. More about that later. So how many of you I haven't found yet are on Instagram? I'd love to find you. What is your favorite posting method? I made the photo on PicMonkey for my phone review which I posted on ReviewThis! Writing that review, which was due and published on Wednesday, kept me too busy to do anything else but write and learn more about my phone for at least three days.

I am happy with my basic phone as watching videos and looking at photos on small screens is not my cup of tea.

Nor mine, but I do love Instagram conversations and I've learned a lot from people I follow there.

It doesn't do much good to have an account there unless you have a smartphone. If you do, it's easy.

I don't think a Kindle will do you much good unless it's a Fire or something else that takes phones and connects to the Internet.

All I had was a flip phone when I opened my account. I used my husband's smartphone to open the account and post a couple of photos just to have something there and be able to comment on my computer to my friends' post. I always thought I'd never be able to get any work done on my phone, but now that I have it I find I'm on it more than on the computer. I'm not sure that's a good thing, since it's still much harder to work on the phone. It's nice to have for an emergency, though. I consistently use about ten apps and I don't really know how so many of the other ones even got on my phone.

Phones can do so much nowadays. It's like they are mini computers.

They sure are. That's why it's so hard to learn how some of the apps work.
