Been a busy bee lately

I noticed the last time I was here was November 20 when I had trouble signing into my admin account on my computer, so I used my son's account to ask here and do my research. I guess I had found the answer on my own before I had a chance to sign back into MyLot. The reason I haven't been here is as some of you know, I had a job working one on one with this 6-year old autistic child. Problem was, he was low functioning and I had zero training or experience with autism. So I would go to work and by the time I came home, I ended up researching ideas on how to keep this child in the classroom (he was a runner) and not disturb the class. It didn't help that the teacher and I got off the wrong foot, (thanks to this aides poor advice in the beginning) and I really didn't get along with the other 2 aides. Then Nov 30 I was needed in another room since the student wasn't there that day. Later that day the principal called me in and said that the teacher was concerned that I wasn't connecting with the student (which I agreed with) and that I really shouldn't have been put with him (I totally agreed with that). He said he could put me back as a sub, but since I am there every day and have a good work ethic, he offered me a position in the high school part of the building where the teacher will be put into other areas in the building leaving 2 aides in the room. The benefit to this is I get a desk to sit at and I can use my phone as long as a student doesn't need me (which is rare, if anything I have to just keep them from talking and focus on getting their work done). Unfortunately my phone has been dropped enough times that sometimes I can't even get a screen up. The drawback is I am sitting most of the day, which can be boring. If my laptop wasn't such a dinosaur, I could use it to work on editing my stories because there is practically no distractions there. This job would be great if I can get a nice laptop and phone, because in between telling the students to get their work done, I can visit here and even do some extra work. Anyway, whether I get a laptop or phone, it doesn't matter, because getting me out of that class was the best thing ever to have happened. I now come home relaxed and able to get things done around the house and even stop by here more often.

Perhaps with your pay you might be able to buy a new laptop at some stage.

Yes, I am saving money, but was hoping to use it not only as a vacation next summer, but to get through the summer because I get summers off which means no pay.

@Carmelanirel2 I always feel sorry for those who don't get paid over long breaks. It must make budgetting difficult.

Yes it does, except the week before winter break I was overwhelmed because they needed me in the other room. I am on break now (I sure could use it) so I've been cleaning the house and sleeping a lot as well as getting together with friends I haven't seen since I started this job.

Funny that I haven't been here last week..This is because there were so many teachers/aides that called in, I ended up subbing in other rooms, one room that was total chaotic, I came home exhausted again. But I am gaining lots of experience..

Yes, and I hope I am able to stay in the high school room until the end of the school year, because some of the other rooms are too stressful.
