Took a Photo Walk to Test My Phone Camera and Get Some Exercise

I did not feel like writing today. Once the morning fog cleared around noon I grabbed my phone and camera and headed for Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden in Paso Robles. It's about a ten minute drive. I guess they were preparing for a big event tonight, since they had a tent up with tables to feed people and another, open on one side, for a band to play. A vendor was selling Greek food. I couldn't believe the prices. Above my pay grade. I passed. My goal was to walk around and take photos. I had both my Canon and my phone. My camera did better on shots that needed a zoom, but the phone did better with most of the others. For some the sun was in the wrong place and neither got what I wanted. I noticed quite a few changes since I was last there in this summer, so I wanted to get some photos of the new things. I also wanted photos of how the tasting room and grounds were decorated for Christmas. After I started home, I was quite tired and getting hungry. The market was right on my way home, so I stopped to shop the sale on grapes, yams, pears, bananas, and and Fuji apples. I also picked up a frozen cheese pizza and some other things I needed and a few I probably didn't need. When I got home I unloaded my five sacks of groceries, preheated the oven, chopped some bell pepper, tomatoes, and mushrooms, and put them on the pizza I'd bought. I put away the other groceries while the pizza cooked. Then I looked at Instagram and made comments after I ate. The moment of truth finally came and I uploaded my photos. I notice the phone photos uploaded to Dropbox by themselves so I can now access those photos from both computers and my phone. I still have to upload my camera photos to one more computer. I'm hoping to get blog posts on at least three different blogs from this photoshoot. It's been a busy day and I'm tired. The photo at the top shows the road I took up toward the oak tree. I passed a vineyard on the way. On the other side of the road appeared to be a facility where equipment for maintenance was stored and a small farm with fruit trees and animals. I kept trying to photograph some quail that kept hiding from me. Had to finally get them with a zoom video.

Vince finds that his camera takes incredibly good photos in some cases.

@LadyDuck Sorry, I meant to say he is pleased with his phone camera but perhaps you guessed that. I do wish I could stop leaving words out.

@JudyEv I like the phone of my camera for quick photos, I am not obliged to bring with me the Canon camera. I use it if I go out to do photos, I never use the one of my husband, too complicated and I fear to break it.

I think the photo you posted has been taken with your phone, the colors are good, the straight lines always look a bit curved when taken with a phone.

I'm really happy with how they treat low light settings. On my photoshoot at an art exhibit last Saturday, the phone did a great job in places where half the photo would have been hidden in shadow if I'd been using my camera.

The vines look very dry.

It's colder here than where you are. The leaves start changing color in October or November. They often get gold or red or both before they turn brown. It looks like these vines are getting dormant. Could be there was an early freeze, since there are also shriveled grape clusters on the vines that weren't harvested. The birds love them.

i do not see any leaves on those trees and neither are they on the ground. Nice photo I do not have a phone that has a camera nor do I want to go for one. I am happy with my camera.

Actually that brown you see on the ground is made of the fallen leaves you don't see. I was also happy with my camera, but I'm glad I have my smartphone now. I do practically everything with it but make phone calls.

I take pictures with my camera. I have not figured out how to take pictures with my cell phone.

Do you have a smartphone or a flip? Taking pictures is easier than with a camera.

I just posted about my phone and Sony cameras and MyLot but it also got me thinking--I, literally, have thousands of pictures on my computer--time to 'weed' them out. About a decade ago I scanned pictures from my albums to have room in my closet now I am filling up USB ports with pictures!!

I think all trees are pretty. Oaks seem to have even more character without their leaves.

@bagarad But all I see right now are trees without leaves, not counting the pines.

I love having some time just to take shots like that. I do it when we are at the beach everything from the water hitting the beach to a sea shell sitting on the beach. There are so many interesting things to take pictures of. We live in a beautiful world.

The beach always yields surprises when I take my camera there. I also find interesting things for photos from the pier. I agree we live in a beautiful world once we get out of the cement jungles some cities have become. Even there, though, nature often breaks through in surprising ways.

Pretty picture. I like taking pictures but I've never spent a day of it. Now you know which to use and which to grab for certain types of pictures.

That was the purpose of the photoshoot. It actually only lasted a couple of hours. But I got what I came to get.

@bagarad I understand what you are saying. I have also found at times that my Fuji camera takes better pictures than my phone but it is hard to carry it around and I get decent pictures on my phone.

My Canon isn't too hard to carry since I have a case with a shoulder strap and the camera isn't too heavy. I do like the zoom.
