Baopeng UV-5R 2 way radio

Today, I ordered from Amazon an Baopeng UV-5R radio. It is a digital radio, software defined radio, where you set the modes with a computer and programing cable. Also ordered the high performance antenna and a shoulder speaker/mike. I am an licensed amateur radio op, and have given away or sold all of my radios and associated paraphernalia, as I am downsizing and getting ready to live a simpler off grid life. I got this little radio after a friend of mine of the same mindset showed me his radio, and it is so small and light weight, yet it works really well.
I will post an update to this after it arrives and I get to use it.

Chinese made 2 way radios are getting cheaper and affordable compared to icoms and Motorolas, yes kindly update us on her performance. Oh welcome to Mylot.

Thank you so much. I used to be an Icom person, but they are so expensive, and very expensive to repair. I had lost most interest in Ameture radio due to the expense, space and weight of the radios and such. This little radio might just be what it takes to get me on the air again.
