Welcome to Banacon Island located in Getafe, Bohol. This is the longest mangrove plantation in Asia. Mangroves are very essential for marine life. It is the home of some fishes, crabs, snakes, and birds. Banacon island is a boat trip away from the mainland thus not very logistically accessible.
My boyfriend and I went there via boat. It was a bit expensive if just for two people but for a group of friends it will be well worth it. Have you guys been to a mangrove plantation? Are there mangroves in your seas?

We have mangrove swamps all along our coastline. They are now protected by the government from destruction, as they have learned over the years that they protect the coastline from beach erosion, especially during hurricanes.

@flapiz Yes, in addition to protecting fragile coastlines, mangroves also foster a healthy marine ecosystem

I have never been to mangrove plantation. I believe that they are alligator farms in Lafayette Louisiana.

Interestingly we don’t have crocodiles in the area. Are crocodiles farmed mainly for their meat or the leather?

I’m not sure it seems my photos can’t be uploaded except that one.
