A cozy day for baking...since I can't do much else

Didn't think we'd get any snow from this storm, but we woke up to about an inch or two of the white stuff this morning.
It quickly changed to rain, so most of the snow is gone. But it's a dreary, cold, wet, yucky day. Sure glad we don't have to go anywhere. Of course church was cancelled this morning and I expect the Christmas concert at a friend's church for tonight will (I hope) be postponed.
So, we just finished left over veggie soup from yesterday (even better today!), my husband's napping, and I'm myLotting.
I'm thankful we haven't lost power, I know a lot of people have, though. I guess I'll make myself get around and bake some chocolate mint squares to put in the freezer for Christmas.
I think I have enough snow ball cookies, peanut butter fudge, and sugared peanuts in the freezer. I don't know, you can never have too much at Christmas time, especially when they keep so well frozen.
Hope wherever you are, the weather is wonderful. Stay warm and be careful if the weather isn't so great where you are.

PS The little peanut man is an ornament I've had for at least thirty years. My Grannie named him Jimmy Carter!

@1creekgirl my grandma had a pot she used to call it after my late great grandma because it used to be as dark as her....does that count.

@1creekgirl Carter was definitely a peanut man. At least back when Carter was president people made honest assessments and did not allow bad presidents a second term...unlike Obama. I think we are on the right track now. And if there is any silver lining, Carter has still done many good things outside of the White House. EXCEPT befriending Castro. That was a bit curious. But it is what it is.

What a cute lil peanut. You're so lucky to have such a treasure for your Christmas tree.
I'm so glad it isn't cold enough here for snow. Hopefully it will only snow on Christmas day then melts by New Years. Usually it doesn't snow here.

The bad weather missed us in Ohio and in fact we had a warmer day than usual, almost into the 40's. I remember last year at this time it was still nice enough for me to get out and walk a mile. This year I'm freezing! It's been below 32 every day this week.

@1creekgirl I think it will last at least for the next week or so. Ohio has relatively mild winters. At least I though so when I moved down from Saginaw Michigan. Moving back from Florida may feel differently! haha

I don't know if its the baking or eating what I bake that puts me in such a good mood. And Christmastime gives me the perfect excuse to make those M&M cookies, lol.

@Courage7 She's the one I got my love of singing from. In church, she would sing a special from the hymn book, standing right by her seat, without music. That church is the first place I ever sang and I was about five years old. I remember singing Jesus Loves Me with an older gentleman in the church playing his violin. We actually are members there now.

I don't remember that! I've never liked him, but my grandmother was a Democrat and since Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer, she named my little peanut man ornament after him.

Baking is a great idea on a cold day when your stuck inside. Sure warms me up in the kitchen by that old hot antique oven going! I have a family Christmas party to attend this weekend and I bought ingredients yesterday to make cookies to take as well as a bottle of soda.
