Spoiler alerts Maybe this one should be called The Battle of Unpronounceable Unmemorable Episode Titles I enjoyed this episode though it was far from perfect. It also didn’t feel like a season finale. More like a misplaced mid-season episode. Only the indication that Graham might kill Tim and get himself kicked off the TARDIS team gave the story any real emotional tension, and Bradley (Graham) Walsh played that well. He would actually have made a good Doctor. The Ux were telekinetic God-like beings somehow duped into serving the exiled fake Messiah Tim, who could easily have taken a ship and flown off anywhere he wanted. Most stories this season marginalized the science fiction to put emphasis on characters, but this story went for big grand complex SF that just got confusing. The Doctor seemed amazed by five shrunken portably light planets in Tupperware tubes just a week after seeing a whole universe in a frog. Tim was basically playing Davros in a remake of Journey’s End episode with the TARDIS again helping send the stolen planets home safely. I would have liked to see the Doctor more affected when she took off the emotions stabilizer. A slight wobble and then she carried on regardless. Why did The Doctor keep jabbing herself in the neck with the sonic? Somehow I expect Tim will break free of his Kinder Egg, hopefully before his untreated foot-shot wound gets infected and kills him. The teaser for the New Year episode gave little if anything away. It is set on Earth, today (most probably Sheffield) at New Year with The Doctor making a typical nu-Who this World is protected speech to whoever the most likely to be the baddies are. The biggest surprise however was how ten weeks just went by that quickly. Aaaargghh! Arthur Chappell
