I Aborted my Purchase Online

I was a bit busy for the past few hours searching products online at one of the popular online shops here in my country. I spent enough time to be able to choose gifts for children and other relatives. It’s very appealing to the eyes and you will have hard decision which to choose because there are plenty of nice things at a nice price because the shop is on great sale. Finally, I have chosen the items for each person in my list and put it to my cart. I did not shop for a long time for this shop as I used to be before and there were few changes that amazed me. What shocked me most is every item bought from different sellers; you have to pay each for the shipment fee. This is unlike before that if you reach the minimum purchase for free shipping, no matter how many items you bought you’d no longer pay the shipping fee. I have second thought so I backed out. I did not proceed to check out because the shipping fee of the items that was about to be bought was more than half the price of the entire purchase. I think I just have to shop at the malls and look for better substitutes of the items that I have chosen and wanted to purchase. Photo Credit: pixabay.com

It's too bad that sites do this. I don't think it will help to increase their business, but rather take away from it - people will go elsewhere, like you did. I usually go to local stores for everything but I usually check ebay to see if I can get a better deal. I always look for the free shipping. If it's not free I won't buy it. Maybe you could check ebay? They're having a lot of sales right now.

I haven't purchase yet thru ebay but if there's good deals and shipping is out of the picture then perhaps I will if I have to receive the items for the intended date.

@ZedSmart I have a friend in Thailand that orders from ebay if she can get free shipping. In the US the arrival dates they give me are always correct, sometimes I get things a day or two earlier. But I check the reviews on the seller and also how long they've been selling on ebay. I check the negative reviews too. If there are more than 1-2 I don't order from them. And there are some states I don't order from. I haven't had any problems.

@deazil It's good to hear that you did not encounter problems in your purchases. Before, if I do not like the product in actual appearance, I'll return it immediately.

@ZedSmart Not knowing if the item will arrive worries me so I prefer to go to stores but if cannot so would rather buy online in my country.

Yeah they are reeking the profits on delivery charge and they are saying you have save a lot from the price but they have hidden it from the delivery charges. Kinda confusing for many buyers as they lure with ultra low prices but hidden in it will be the delivery charges which will be added when you check out and ready to pay.

You are right. I used to like shopping online because it's hassle free but if that's the case, I'd no longer.
