Hot laptop or battery?

I decided to hang out in bed today to do my online work, and also to make calls and so forth, as it is quite toasty and warm in here compared to the rest of the house. Besides I have big pillows in here. During the course of the morning, I had to plug in my laptop, and I was surprised how warm the battery was. It isn't "hot" but it is noticeable. Check your batteries if you live them on, to make sure they are near nothing that can catch fire. A former buddy of mine who used to use the internet all the time..got serious burns on his legs just by having the laptop on them for a few hours each day. My laptop never gets hot, but some do.

Must be the exhaust fan for the battery that gets conk out that is why heat is not able to get away that they come to the point it becomes very hot.

This is good advice. Luckily mine doesn't seem to get hot although we have a battery charger that does. We make sure we turn that off once we've finished with it.

Yes, I was really quite surprised how warm it really was..not to the point of burning but definitely noticeable..so keeping an eye on them if they are around flammable materials is important, I Think.

not surprised, his legs were more than likely covering the fan vents for it to cool off.

Yes you have to be very careful. I keep mine on a holder if I have it on my lap.

I have a lap tray with a slanting top that is where my laptop lives. Nice to use, and there's enough ventilation that nothing overheats.

I've just recently read that it's unhealthy to be putting your laptop on your lap for a long time. I have some sort of a heat sink given free by the computer shop with my Mac and I put my Mac on top of it on the table and my Mac stays cool despite long hours of use.

Yes, people are not supposed to put their laptop directly on their lap, but many do.

I think it happened kind of gradually so he wasn't aware of them.
