I'm being held hostage

I have some phone calls I need to make, but I'm being held hostage right now by someone who is supposed to call me "between 10 AM and Noon." It's 11:50 AM now, and I'm still sitting here like an idiot. At least I was able to make some latkes for breakfast and brew up some coffee. On to another subject, my Winter sunflower has survived two nights with temperatures in the 30s F (about 3 C). I'll attach a picture I took this morning. Yesterday's music party was fun, though I was "too stuffed to jump" after we were done eating. Do you hate being held hostage by Comcast and other entities that give you a "window" when they will call?

I really resent having to wait for calls or deliveries either one.

There should be automatic disconnect, with calls recorded, at both ends. The party (Comcast) should be able to call up the person, and answer the query. At the customer's end, there should be phone record to prove to others that Comcast didn't call for so many days months and years which should entitle the person for some compensation.

Yeppers. I recently received a delivery that, happily, was not stolen from my front porch.

@vandana7 In this case, it wasn't Comcast, but it was an equally large and impersonal entity. Happily, the guy on the other end spoke English and was helpful. Now I can move on with my day.

That's what I like about the cell phone. I can leave the house and take it with me. If I'm expecting a phone call I'll still get it. Some people have no respect for other's time.

Do your have to stay at home because you wait a call on your landline phone? This is annoying.

They had me by the huevos on this one, because if I didn't talk to them, certain "services" would be "denied." Sigh.

I hate it, myself. I get pretty damn furious when a workman doesn't show up when they should.

@TheHorse Believe me, I've tried. This remodel that is going on and on and on is driving me nuts, and I'm ready to rip the contractor a new one.

@TheHorse I hate when I have to sit and wait for someone to come or to call and they are late and do not call to let me know they are still coming. I had a plumber that I waited for and he never showed up or called so I had to find someone else. It is very frustratng.

@Hannihar Here we have little (actually not so little) review sites where you can say "This plumber is great" or "That plumber never showed up."

Comcast shows up on time. But their coverage goes down a lot. And they like to sneak prices up without telling you. This was a different "company."

@TheHorse - I've been using eMail and social media messages for years. It's not preferred. It's just affordable. All of my kids have cell phones. If I have to use a phone I'll just borrow their phone.

I hope your call came through before the noon deadline. It is very aggravating to have to wait for them to call at a certain time.

I don't mind having to wait if the amount of time is reasonable like a morning or afternoon. But waiting on a call? Perhaps giving them a cellphone number would be better. You can take it with you if you need to go out.

Oh I despise having to wait for calls or if someone hangs up and says I'll call back in a minute but a will passes and there is no call back or even a cutousy text

I feel like by being a Comcast customer that is a hostage situation and they are hoping you go through Stockholm syndrome but it just will never happen.

I will not develop Stockholm Syndrome with Comcast--that's for sure! Today's 10 to 12 entity (not Comcast, but another equally large and impersonal entity) called at 12:05 PM. The call WAS fruitful, though. I'm happy about that.

Especially by Comcast. They are evil. This was actually another entity. But they kind of have me by the huevos, as they owe me money, so I have to jump through their hoops.
