New Approach for a Telemarketer

I just received a phone call. I didn't give my name. I didn't recognize the number. The person asked if I just called her number. Of course, I hadn't. As most of you know, my phone and I aren't bosom buddies. The fact, I had it on my desk at my fingertips is rare.
So, after telling her I hadn't called anyone in quite a while, true, not since my daughter called this morning, but she called me, I didn't call her, I haven't called anyone in a long time. Not since Friday when I had to make a call to cancel the study group.
I don't know if she expected me to say anything further, but I didn't and she just hung up without going into any spiel about anything.
Has your phone ever made calls without you pressing the buttons? Just curious and wondering if this is something new in phone technology or a new marketing approach, that if I had given my name, would have led down another rabbit trail.
Anyway, my daughter was here. We had a good visit. I've already finished one chapter on Thread of Evidence and I'm working on the next. Only 11 pages on this one, so should go well.
I'm going to get back to editing. I'll be here when I finish this chapter. I hope your day is going well. Thanks for reading.

I do not even answer them if I do not know the number.

And talking of phones doing strange things, on Sunday we were meeting friends for a walk. When we couldn't find them I sent a text to say we were there. I then got a notification to say that a text-to-speech message had been sent to someone totally different! And no I didn't use the wrong number, the original message was showing as having been sent to the right person. Someone else must have received one of those weird robotic voices on their landline saying "We're here!" and had no clue who sent it!

There are people from church who call occasionally. I don't have their number stored in my phone, so I do answer the phone when it rings.

Ditto to the comments below. I got a scam call from my own number twice. I had to block my own number.

I get a robo call now, they say hey I am returning your call and then goes on to tell me about making $10,000 a week, give me a call back and leaves their number.

I had a similar phone call, 'did you call my number?' My reply was, 'Nope!' I never volunteer one ounce of information, someone could use. Is this Kharla, with another call. My response was, 'Who is this?' They hung up on me.

@kobesbuddy That's the best way. I usually do the same, unless they know it's me when I call.

@just4him Whenever I call someone, the first things I do is volunteer my full name. Then, I explain what I'm calling about. This way, they know it's not someone playing mind games.

At one time, I received a call from someone I don't know and he keeps insisting I did call him first.
I told him I did not recognize the number and I did not call someone.
I also check my phone but I did not make any calls.
He shut up when I told him and that why would I call you when this phone doesn't have a call credit for a month now.

Glad you and your daughter had a good visit. I have had people call me before saying I called them, oh yeah well I don't know you and it's not in my call log that I called. I don't know but it's weird when it happens. Probably the government lol.

Haven't experienced that. Perhaps they just dialled the wrong number. Good luck with your book.

I get calls from people from church that I don't have stored on my phone, so I need to answer it.

Yes, as you see in the comments, in order to get people to answer their phones they hijack local numbers. It happened to me.
