Mother was good in making sugar balls - a memory

When I was in school we were going on a picnic and mother decided to make sugar balls to take along with me.
Making sugar balls seems easy as it only involves sugar, water, lime juice and colouring. But it is the perfect consistency that was needed.
Mother made them and they were pretty large. They were green in colour.
These sugar balls were sticky and biting them would spell trouble as they would stick in the teeth and one could not even talk until they were fully finished.
Imagine the plight of my teachers and class mates when each took one and started eating them

@suni51 When you put those in your mouth they will get stuck in your teeth and until you finish eating them you will not be able to talk. My mother normally made pretty large sugar balls

@allknowing It was a soft sugar candy "La Pie Qui Chante", I do not believe it still exists that kind of candy.

I was one who always 'belled the cat' in school - quite bold.
