Another touchy subject. Now I've heard that, recently, they don't think it is relevant to teach it anymore. What will be the outcome of all that ? We all have different point of view on those things too. But my question is, is history important to a certain point ? My answer is, my kids needs to know who there ancestors were , and where they are coming from ?? Isn't it ? Well at least for me if I was a kid, no matter what the teacher would say, relevant or not, I need to know. But what is the agenda on that one now ? Because, their is always a thought behind everything. You sure have an answer....

@beenice2 Apparently....and I say apparently because I personally do not know the truth yet I've heard some celebrities say it. Like Michael Jackson for example, saying that "History books are a lie." I don't know how to confirm it for I don't have the power or resources BUT at the same time it would not surprise me if that really was the government's plans. A lot has been lied about in regards to the government so although it's messing with our minds, it's also very shady. I reckon it's important. When it's the right story. Even if it's hurtful, I think it's best to learn the real truth about history for us to then learn from it.

I think since they mess around with some of the history in some ways, I like to go back to the old books that was written, to go back to the source, as much as I can. I am trying to bypass those lies.

@beenice2 Sorry forgot to say. Also again I will use the word APPARENTLY, though I have more of a feeling this is truth due to certain things I've come across but to wipe out history is like starting again. Start NEW....Like the new world a certain group are trying to push....

When I was at secondary school history was one of my favourite subjects. It is important to know about history in your own country and worldwide major history is good to know as well. My daughter has been learning about World War II at school. Yesterday the school invited in parents to see a hall display. I came along to and had an interesting time. One boy hand made a gas mask. We need to educate people about the past so bad parts of it aren't repeated. Like treat Jewish people kindly for example.

I agree with you maximax8, Around here in North America ( Canada) I keep hearing that some schools and teachers doesn't teach history. I wonder if it is linked to the government ?

I cannot speak to what they teach in Canadian schools or in other US states but here in NC and especially in the private school where I work, we teach history to our students.

All history is important and relevant. If they stop teaching it, people will start to believe events never happened.

@beenice2 I noticed your post and was interested in seeing what you wrote here. I live in Israel and my history is very important to me. I feel like I want in the footsteps of my ancestors that were here thousands of year ago and it is very exciting.

How well do you research the History you teach your children? It's like any disagreement....there is one side, the other side, and the truth is often somewhere in between. We need to discern what is what. Tearing down monuments won't erase what has been before.....but it will make the truth harder to discern.

There is much to learn from history which truly does repeat itself.
