Silly me, I thought I'd posted this entry on my countdown of favorite Who songs earlier today. No. Must've hit the wrong button. Oh, well. At any rate, here's the next song from The Who that's on my favorites list....along with an embarrassing story! #4: Squeeze Box Okay, this song is filthy. Any five-year-old knows what this song is about. Well.....I didn't. Not when this song came out in 1975. I loved it from the moment I heard it, and had the 45! And my dear mother of blessed memory told me to make certain my self-righteous dad never ever heard me play this song. Why, I wondered. "Because it's dirty," my mom replied. "No, it's not," I protested. "He's talking about an accordion." You see, kiddies, there was a time in this world when 15-year-olds could be naïve. Actually, according to Picky Wedia, Roger Daltrey denied it was "supposed" to be a euphemism for sex. It just happened that way. Quick trivia: one of the few rock songs of the 70s to have a banjo on it. Squeeze Box Written by Pete Townshend From The Who By Numbers, 1975 In and out and in and out:

Ah, the double meaning? You mean it wasn't about an accordion? Geez the motion's the same Brilliant lyrics and great song by this iconic band There is a tiny bit of accordion playing in the tune along with an obvious banjo, Pete playing both instruments. Roger Daltrey has always been fond of this song and it's lyrical innuendo which you alluded to in your post. Great story and post my friend
