Some good and some bad so far this week

Monday I fixed the bathroom fan. I bought a new one over the weekend. I took the old parts out but noticed that the metal housing part that holds the power plug couldn’t be removed without taking the paneling down. So I put in the new parts into the old parts and it worked. It didn’t fit in 100% but it’s wedged good enough it cannot fall out. What difference too it has made. I didn’t realize how poorly the old one was working until we showered and saw how much better it removed the steam! I made a yummy recipe called “Overnight strawberry cream cheese french toast bake”. Yesterday I woke up and heard the furnace was making funny clicking clanking noises. I realized it was the outside line was frozen up. It was 20°F it shouldn’t have frozen up so easily already. The anti gel stuff I put in I guess didn’t help. I got $9.43 from mylot! I paid 4 bills online and started sewing a shirt for my daughters friend for Christmas. I ran out of flavoring for tea for I didn’t have any yesterday and had a headache which got worse as the day wore on. I went to sleep with that and really angry from texts with my boyfriend so I slept terrible. At 11pm I heard the furnace making the weird noises again. I went downstairs and opened the cellar door and it was a stinky smoky smell so I shut the furnace off and went to bed. I woke up today and the house was 55°F. I boiled some water and dumped it on the line outside and then got the house warmed up. My dad is going to get me a little kerosene to mix in since the fuel delivery company doesn’t do a mixture anymore. My son and I started his cyber school day studying for his history test. After finishing that which took a half hour I realized we studied the chapter from last month ugh poor kid. Now we have to study the correct lesson later before he takes the taste. I called myself an idiot and he said that I’m not I just have a bad memory which was sweet. Bad parenting calling myself an idiot in front of him but I was so disappointed in myself making him study extra that way. Photo is unrelated. Just a photo to spruce up the post a little. It’s the presents under our tree so far and I edited it quick before posting it.

I think it's nice to add an image when writing, but most here don't. I'm curious what kind of test he will have that he'll need to taste it, lol. A little typo there. I will say that's all I found, and today after re-reading several responses I've written recently, I've found too many typos from writing on my phone, than I care to count. Some were kind of funny. The recipe sounds interesting. Did you find that online or was it from a friend or family? You can come to my house and repair our bathroom fan. Ours quit working about three years ago. I do have a number of a gal that does things like that, but by the time I can afford to have her here, my list will be extra long. Before we get the fan fixed we need something done with our faucet in the kitchen. We replaced it two years ago and there's barely any water coming out of the faucet. I think all the minerals got dislodged and ended up at the end of the sprayer which doesn't come apart for cleaning as far as we can tell. I couldn't figure out how your furnace could have a frozen line outside, until I realized that you must have a tank of propane on your lawn? We have a gas furnace but the pipes for that come into the basement and are buried in the ground. Oh, and I missed getting a payment this month. I'm already at $6.70 and of that $2.24 made in December. So, I came close, just not quite close enough. I had too much going on the last day of the month for November.

@MarshaMusselman I love photos so that’s just as good to me as reading a post. I probably should have put something related to my post though like a photo of the new bathroom fan. I just didn’t think of that at the time. I always write posts from my phone and do tend to make more typos so thank you for pointing that out. After I post this comment I will reread my post and correct the mistake. Plus usually I post right before bed and I am half asleep lol I saw the recipe on Pinterest. I can send you the link to it if your interested in seeing what it looks like and the ingredients. The fan really wasn’t hard to fix I think you could do it easily by yourself if I could do it! Our bathroom gets very steamy and breeds mold so we have to have a fan! My bathroom tub faucet leaks but not bad enough I want to ask my father in law to fix it. For your kitchen faucet did you try soaking it in a ziplock bag of vinegar? I have heard that helps when deposits build up. The oil tank is outside but it’s fuel oil and can freeze in the winter. The tank is sunk in th ground on one side because of a woodchuck years ago so it’s making the tank even colder. It took me two months or three to reach payout here.

@MarshaMusselman The recipe if I remember correctly wasn't much sugar. It used maple syrup which is healthier then sugar. This fan was put in long after the room was finished yeas ago. Since my daughters room is above and not a ceiling we had to install it on the side of the wall and it vents outside. When I just put the new parts in I felt a cold draft coming in so I used weather stripping you cover some of the gap inside where air was coming in.

@shaggin Fixing the fan itself wouldn't be the main issue any more as we got new insulation blown into our attic. I think someone would have to go up there, and it's not easy to get to, and make sure the steam from the bathroom had access to open space and wouldn't get that area too wet in the process. The recipe sounds interesting. When I have grandkids, which hopefully won't be for a few years yet, then maybe I'd make something like that. Not that they need to be having too much sugar. Maybe I'll tag this comment so in the future I can more easily find it if I want to try your recipe out.

Can you cover the outside line with something so that it does not freeze? Getting up in a cold house is not funny.

@LadyDuck my dad put 8 gallons of kerosene in for me so that should help. He stuffed some insulation around the pipe and covered it with a bag and a rock. That will help until spring when he can dig up the dirt around it and insulate it better and wrap the like with heat tape. A woodchuck had dug a tunnel under it and it's entrance was against the house between the tank. I filled it in with old sand I had to keep the woodchuck out. He didn't come back but the past few years the stone has sunk into the ground and the one side of the tank legs have sunk into the ground. So on that side the tank sits on the ground and I think is just getting to cold. All this will need to be taken care of in the spring. I was supposed to have my boyfriend do it this past summer and forgot.

@LadyDuck when it gets down to quarter of a tank I can see if my dad and someone can lift up on side so I can stick a board under it for now. It's at 3/4 of a tank so that should last me a month hopefully.

@shaggin It surely is a problem where the tank sits on the ground. I hope what you father did will help to keep you out of troubles.

You are so self sufficient! My husband or a contractor would have to take care of those things. Congratulations on reaching payout!

@DianneN I'm sure if you had to you could do it too. Yesterday my new computer chair arrived from Amazon. I had to put it together. I did it all without saying a single swear word . My son told me he didnt think I was going to be able to do it and that I should be a mechanic.

@snowy22315 yes but fortunately the line from the oil tank to the furnace was easy to thaw out so we weren't without heat for long. Waking up today with the house colder was tough but hopefully after putting in the kerosene it won't freeze up again.

@amadeo yes everything seems worse when it's so cold. It was 27°F this morning. I really hope the kerosene my dad out in helps because last year it never froze the lines until it got about -10°

Our climate is such that our pipes never freeze so we are lucky in that respect. Your tree looks really lovely.

@JudyEv you have heat there that I am sure I have never experienced here. I would gladly try living there to avoid this snow and cold though it's terrible. Thank you. I saw people putting ribbon curling down from the top to the bottom and I think I may want to try that next year.

Sorry you didnt sleep well, and that your boyfriend made you angry. Hope things are better between you now, along with your sleep. I'm sure most parents make those bad remarks on themselves, infront of their kids once in awhile. Dont be hard on yourself for it. Or for not remembering that he already did that lesson. Its okay. Love the picture and wrapping paper!

@Courtlynn thank you as always for your kind words. As parents we always beat ourselves up for everything. I think things are okay with my boyfriend now. He messaged me late the night before saying that every though I was being an a*****e he wanted me to know he loves me. I was pretty sure he was going to break up with me so that was unexpected. I'd have been a lot happier if he left off the first part of what he said but I told him he was being the a*****e and he agreed to what I wanted to do with his dog taking it to the vet. He wasn't happy about it but is allowing it.
