Did Pay Pal ask you to...

United States

I haven't done it yet, but I am curious. I received my first payout from the Lot and before I can claim it I need to scan and send PayPal a copy of something with my name and address on it....that seemed a bit odd so I am asking the people on the lot if they had to do something like that...Did you?

Thank you! I'm thinking of letting the amount grow for awhile...maybe buy a luxury stretch limo complete with chauffeur. Actually I'll use it for my Ebay shopping...$5.17 doesn't sound like much but it does help the budget.

I've had my account for a lot of years too. That's what baffles me about the request. I guess I need to contact them and see what's up.

@BearArtistLady I would suggest you to call their customer support, it's the fastest and easier way to know if it's common practice or what's wrong.

@BearArtistLady when you're on that page look at the address bar/url. If it's not the pay pal site something red will be in the left of the http, it words will be in red or something. I've never had it ask for an address either. I don't see why you'd needed it since they don't send your payment via the mail. Did you change something on you part pal account and miss verifying it? It doesn't sound legit to me. The money will usually sit in your pay pal account unless you choose to give them the location to transfer it to.

I think you do need to verify your account is why they ask that. Congrats on getting your very first payout here I am very happy for you! How much did you earn?

If I remember right it was the sum of $5.17! I plan to use it on Ebay for stuff for my booth space in the shop. Thanks for the Congrats BTW, I made payout during the time I was planning Bill's birthday party. I didn't have a chance to announce my making payout.

A friend had a request like this a few years ago. He was buying and selling a lot on Ebay, and I think that at some level of money PayPal controls the ID. I am surprised that they do it for the few dollars we receive on mylot.

@BearArtistLady You see. If they flag my account I will give them what they want to solve the problem quickly...

I buy a lot on Ebay, that too could be the reason. Also I have a governmental debit card that I can't add funds to...which could be the other reason. So when I get home from work tonight I'll give it a try with the purchased re-loadable prepaid debit card that I bought last week and see if they'll credit it to that account. I don't hand out my information to just anyone, not that they could find me very quickly anyhow. That's one advantage to living out in the woods.

I'll go back to PayPal and try again. Come to think of it the card I mostly use is a government issue card that doesn't accept deposits...that could be the reason. I have another card that I'll try and see if that works.

I hadn't had it happen before, that's why I didn't respond with the ID right away, it sounded too fishy to me.

@BearArtistLady it's possibly to pay for certain things directly from okay pal also so you could have it sit there and use it that way if your other debit card won't work. It makes sense that it's asking because your government card won't take deposits.

I've had my account for many years too. I shop Ebay a LOT and registered my card with PayPal waaaayyyy back. It's possible that it's because it's a card that doesn't accept outside deposits. I'm going to try the debit card I bought a couple of weeks ago, it's reloadable and that might be the reason.

I wouldn't do that. When I set up my Paypal I connected it to my bank account which is how they were able to identify me. Maybe you can open a new account at your bank and then have it connected to your PayPal?

Maybe they've changed the way they do things. I've had PayPal for several years. I only needed to verify my bank account.

I have too, except I wasn't using it as much for awhile, also this is the first payout from myLot so that could have something to do with it..plus the card I have is one that I can't add funds to, just the government is allowed to do that. I'm going to check and see if the card I bought will work for the myLot award.

No. Our credit card details are there so I guess they don't need other verification.

I just joined mylot for a few days, and I have never received a payment from mylot, because I still get a few dollars above
