What do you bring / use when making cookies? This will be the third or fourth year that a couple of friends and I have gotten together to make cookies. I don't have that much money to spend but I am going to try to bring some icings and maybe some sugar. I just got a message that says "Hey, I might need to move our cookie day up to this weekend." Of course, this has my eyes bugging out because I'm not ready! Two gifts are still yet to be delivered, and I am hoping they will be tomorrow. I messaged her back and told her that it would be fine, and that I could just give her the gifts some other day. She hadn't thought of that and said she'd have to get back to me. It's still very much up in the air. I'm hoping whatever the case, that the rest of the gifts come tomorrow. What kind of cookies / treats do you bake at Christmas? Potato Candy is my favorite to do, but we do sugar cookies most of the time.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of that. What does the cake consist of?

@LadyDuck I am going to look up recipes. That sounds so delicious. I love raisin bread, and I like things like cranberries, prunes and apricots. I'll have to try it sometime. Thank You!

@ScribbledAdNauseum it's a sweet bread with fruits, nuts and spices, you add or remove what you like or dislike.

hmm, if you have lots of icing, you can bring toppings. m&ms, sprinkles, bunch of it can be bought at 99c stores. crush some candy canes or other hard candy. im mostly a oatmeal raisin cookie guy.

I hadn't thought about crushing candy canes but that's a good idea. I was thinking of hitting up the dollar tree because I know they have confectioner's sugar there.

@Plethos Oh yeah definitely. Honestly though, I prefer to get icing tubes because I'm horrible at using piping bags.

We do a lot of fudge. I made special Rice Krispie treats with peanut butter in them and chocolate and butterscotch mixed on top for Thanksgiving, those went real well. Could make them plain with red and green sprinkles on them. I am considering making some kind of a peanut butter ball dipped in chocolate. I have a recipe that calls for Rice Krispies in the peanut butter, and I still have some to get rid of.

All of that sounds delicious. As a family thing, we used to do fudge and potato candy. My mom used to do mints but it was so so long ago that I can hardly recall it. I want to bring more ideas to our friends-mas but I don't have a lot of money. I had planned on doing mints, but like I said, I will only be able to afford a few things.

I can't remember what my families tradition is, not quite. This new friend's tradition though, I love it.

I "bake" Christmas programs. No time to be cooking, I'm always leading people on stage or in church, or practicing piano or flute. I will be happy to eat things that other people cook, though.
