Many of you know how much I enjoy visiting Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, which is about a two hour drive from my home. I’ve just returned from several days down there, the first time I’ve visited the city in several months. I had two reasons for making the trip. The first was to go to the pantomime, Puss in Boots, at Circa Theatre. I always enjoy the performances there and once again enjoyed this latest opportunity. Summer has started here and I confess I went to the 4 pm matinee reluctantly on such an outstanding day. My walk to the theatre from my hotel took me along the waterfront. The sun shone, and the waterfront was vibrantly alive with music, people, pop-up stalls and those out enjoying such a wonderful afternoon. My second reason was to gather material for my next book. I spent the next two days walking the streets of the CBD, drinking coffee, researching for my latest writing project and writing. Now I have six weeks to process all I did and work it into my latest book, plus enjoy the summer ahead. I’ll be back in my favourite city at the end of January.

You had a very productive and enjoyable trip, Ms. Val :) Been to New Zealand twice but have not gone to Wellington. Instead, we went to Christchurch and Queenstown and took a 5-hour tour bus ride to Milford Sound :) BTW, I love the shot you took at the waterfront :)

@valmnz Hehehe! I don't know when I will be able to travel to NZ again :) My daughters say that there is much turbulence as planes make their descent to Wellington airport. They go to Wellington to renew their passports. My older daughter though is now an NZ citizen :)

That is a great place, indeed. And who wouldn't get inspired to write with this beautiful scenery.

I visited the beautiful city of Wellington in 2001. It is a lovely place for a stroll. Altogether I was very impressed with New Zealand. I hope you are getting on writing your book.

Thanks. And Wellington is even more vibrant now than it was seventeen years ago.

There were also a couple of cruise ships in port adding to the festival like atmosphere.

Thanks. Photo not mine, found on an online free to use page. I was staying in a hotel about in the middle of the photo. Can't see it there.

It can be hard sometimes to go indoors when it is so lovely outside. What will your new book be about?

You probably came to NZ at a time when port facilities had not yet been developed in Wellington. The capital wasn't always as vibrant as it is now.

@valmnz It sounds like an inspiring place, Wellington. Why was it built so far from Ireland? There’s no justice in that.

Some question why it was even built where it is! I spent most of my three days on reclaimed land that didn't exist before the 1855 earthquake.
