I summered twice this year

China
December 13, 2018 8:26am CST
My wife and I took a trip to Sanya, Hainan Province, in the last 10 days. It took about 3 hours nonstop flight from my hometown to Sanya.Sanya belongs to tropical maritime monsoon climate with the annual average temperature 25.7 C. So people who live in North China flock to there every winter.Besides, Sanya is a popular tourist destination.Recently the temperature in Sanya was nudging 30 degrees Celsius, so We were in shirt sleeves, even wearing shorts and T-shirt there, like we do in summer in our hometown. Yesterday we returned from Sanya and had to be wrapped up in thick winter clothes before getting off the plane, because the temperature was minus 3 degrees Celsius here.It may take a few days for us to adjust to the cold weather.

It's hard to come back to the cold weather when we visit warm places. I remember when we spent a few days in the Caribbean in winter, it was hard coming back home. I am sure you enjoyed your vacation.

That's nice you were able to take a trip with your wife ! I can see why the warmth of Sanya would attract so many vacation go-ers at this time. Was it cold when you left just as when you came back? What did you see in Sanya?

@changjiangzhibin89 Oh my! That is so hot, a temperature! No wonder you preferred a cold climate. But at least you have a place to go when it gets too cold in your residence's place.

I'm so glad you and your wife were able to take this trip, I hope you had a good time. I live in northern America, so our winters can be pretty cold and I remember the couple times I went to Florida in the south and found it amazing that when I left I was wearing a winter coat, but once down there I was going swimming..

@changjiangzhibin89 I would love to go somewhere warm right now, even though it isn't too cold (40F) I prefer if it was hot even to go without a jacket.

@changjiangzhibin89 You are lucky. I’ve been to Shanghai in the winter and it was pleasant with a coat. On the other hand, we were in Hong Kong in August and it was an immense wall of heat and humidity!

I have travelled to Sanya three times. It is a nice city. I haven't planned to be there for a long time as I found that flying to Thailand, Singapore or other tropical countries spends less money Especially we are close to Hong Kong, the plane tickets price can be very attractive sometimes.

Many people here talked about how they wintered in Florida.I once bantered with some of them and compared them to "migratory bird".

Anything minus 0 C is getting pretty cold. The years we have gone overseas to see our son we have more or less missed out on winter.
