Tuesday I saw my daughters coat was ripped under the armpit. I let her borrow my coat Wednesday and sewed hers while my son was on lunch break with cyber school. After dinner I sewed what you see in the photo. It is a part of my children’s fathers old slipknot T-shirt put on the back of a new flannel shirt. It is one of a few gifts my daughter is giving her best friend for Christmas. Yesterday my daughter forgot her gym sneakers so I ran them up to her. So chilly in the morning it reminded me of walking to school in the mornings when I was a teen. I grew up across the street so it’s only a few hundred more feet then my usual path to school back then. My son looked over his spelling words Wednesday and asked if he got 100 the first try if he could have a candy bar. It happened last week and I didn’t think it would happen again so I told him sure but it would only happen probably once in a blue moon (which got him googling if a blue moon was real). So he took the test and surprised me by getting 100. So I went to the bank yesterday and got him one of the $1 Gertrude Hawk Candy Bars we all love. I made cake mix cookies that a member here at mylot told me about. They are for the Family Christmas party we are going to tonight. I used vanilla cake mix and they weren’t as good as I was hoping. I think going with my original plan to use red velvet cake mix would have been better but I was trying to save money and vanilla was about 75 cents less. I received a $5 Amazon e-giftcard from Pinecone Research. Before bed last night I finished reading “Let it Snow” which was 3 interconnecting stories by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. Saving the very best news for last my boyfriend agreed to let me take his dog to the vet. He doesn’t think anything is wrong with her so I said if there isn’t and they don’t give her an antibiotic or anything I will pay the bill. If there is something wrong then he has to pay me back.

That is such a lovely twist on new flannel with a touch of your children's father's shirt! I love that and it's very sentimental. I am sure her friend will love her gift! Congrats on your son for getting 100% on his test, that's motivation for him (to get a treat afterwards). Glad he has let you take his dog into the vet! Take care & Happy Holidays! :)

@infatuatedbby my daughter brought her friend to our family Christmas party last night and gave her the presents. She loved all of them and thought it was so nice about the flannel and it being my daughters fathers old t-shirt. She asked my daughter if she was sure she wanted to give it to her and thanked her.

@infatuatedbby About a month ago I made my daughter a flannel shirt like this with the other side of the t-shirt. This S design was on the back and she didn’t want it so when I mentioned making a flannel for her friend for Christmas she liked that idea.

@amadeo we do have a strange relationship I agree about that. It's his dog and he doesn't live with me so I think he is the boss of his dog. Otherwise we are our own bosses!

@amadeo as an adult I don't want to have to mother him to be his boss and I don't want him thinking he can boss me around. Relationships should be a team instead!

You did a good job with this flannel shirt. I also remember when I went to school walking, early in the morning with chilling temperatures. I have baked some sugar cookies today and some appetizers, only one more week to Christmas.

@DianneN yes him allowing me to take his dog to the vet is the best news. It is supposed to be freezing rain tomorrow but I am hoping to go to his house to check on her tomorrow then I can call the vet and set up an appointment. I'm glad I didn't give in and he finally came to his senses. So ridiculous it even had to come to such a big fight!

@JudyEv yes it shouldn't have taken so long! I looked at her yesterday and she seems to be okay. Once the bleeding starts up heavier again I will get her to the vet.

I agree on the dog deal with your boyfriend and I think you will win. Sorry to hear about the cookies maybe next time you can make the red velvet cookies next time. Your book sounds good I might have to look for it. That is great news on the spelling test for your son and congrats to him on the candy bar.

@Tina30219 the book was okay. It was beat because although it had three different authors and three different stories they interconnected so you recognized some of the people and events from the other stories. I've never read a book like that before. I am sure I will win on the deal with his dog as well. I really can't understand how he really believes there is nothing wrong with her.

My mom's the one being active with the different Christmas Parties left and right. I'm still thinking as to whether I should attend the Night Mass or not.

@Courtlynn when I made a flannel shirt like this for my daughter a month ago or so this design was on the back of the Slipknot shirt I used for my daughters. I asked my daughter if she wanted me to use the design on the back to make one for her friend who is a huge Slipknot fan and she did. I was worried it wouldn't look good but my daughter is really happy with it and to give her all her gifts at the family Christmas party we are going to soon. She wanted to bring her best friend who is like family You know how much the issue with the dog has been bugging me. It escalated and we weren't speaking for a few days but I'm glad he is agreeing to it. Ridiculous how long it took him to give in.

@andriaperry I offered to take her to the vet before if he paid and he wouldn't agree. He still insists nothing is wrong but we will see. I am sure I am right no matter what excuses he makes. Some men are ridiculously stubborn.
