Success getting Queen + Adam Lambert tickets at MSG

Last week I went on Ticketmaster to get tickets (for me and hubby) to a Queen + Adam Lambert concert at MSG. I was not able to get tickets. When they added a second show, due to overwhelming demand, I was going to try and get those. The tickets went on sale today. I had to enter the queue line again (like last time). Luckily, when the wait was over and the page refreshed to let me purchase tickets there were many available and at varying prices. I couldn't really spend a lot of time figuring out the best place to sit that's also not very expensive because I was worried that either I will get kicked out after a certain time of not buying anything or the tickets in my price range would sell out and I'd end up with nothing. I clicked on a pair of tickets ready to buy but when I clicked to purchase them I was told another fan already beat me to it. But I was offered another pair of tickets in its place, so I clicked to buy those and it worked. I was able to get tickets. I would have preferred to spend more time looking at sections and their prices and picking different seats. Maybe I would have ended up sitting closer for the same amount of money but I didn't want to risk it. It doesn't seem like I am sitting in a bad place. Tickets were $120 each. I also had to pay $5 to have them mailed to my house and there were over $25 in fees for each ticket. The total came close to $300. I didn't want to spend that much and I hate that the fees are so high but there was no way around it. Sure I could've gone to the venue box office to get tickets but they are not available for sale on the first day of public sale. And going tomorrow would most likely mean I'd end up with nothing because tickets would sell out for sure. I didn't want to take that chance. I am so excited! This will be my third time seeing them in concert and with Adam Lambert as the front man. August 7th can't come soon enough.

I never understood why tickets to a concert go on sale so far in advance. The wait is long for sure but before you know it it will be August. I actually have another concert in August. Going to see The Backstreet Boys. First time seeing them in concert. Been a fan of theirs since the beginning. There were times where I tried getting tickets to their concert but wasn't able to.

It annoys me that the tickets are a certain price and then they add fees on top. It seems unfair - just a way to get extra money out of you.

Yep. I hate that too. And it's not just one fee. It's many fees.

Congratulations on getting the tickets. Most of the time I think the fees are too high, too; however, it's probably cheaper than actually going to the box office, paying parking, standing in line for hours on end, etc., in this case.

If I go to the box office I have to spend $2.75 each way (for train/subway/bus ride) and that is it. Thing is to get to the venue would take between 2 and 2.5 hours each way. And there is no guarantee that once I got to the venue that the tickets I wanted to get would be there. With Queen that option would definitely not work 'cause they are a very hot ticket, especially after the movie came out. I did go to the venue once to get tickets to a Russian concert. So I saved all those fees. But in the end the concert was moved to the smaller theater and I had to go back to the venue closer to concert time to exchange my tickets for equivalent tickets of the smaller theater. I didn't like what they gave me so had to get refunded and buy new tickets, which weren't where I wanted to sit but it seemed like the better option out of those available for that same price. But again I avoided the fees.
